When it comes to your hair, it’s never as easy as simply grabbing the first thing you see on the supermarket shelf. Finding the best shampoo and the best conditioner involves a lot of trial and error, but when you find the duo that’s right for you – it’s mane magic!

As beauty editors, we’re lucky enough to have access to a lot of hair products.  We’ve tried our fair share of shampoo and conditioner duos, so it’s fair to say that we’ve worked out what suits our hair (and our lifestyle!) best. If you’re still looking for yours, or you just love a good product recommendation, check out the gallery to find out what we’re loving here at beautyheaven.

Avalon Organics Active Shampoo Tea Tree Mint Treatment and Conditioner

“My favourite shampoo and conditioner is the Avalon Organics Active Shampoo Tea Tree Mint Treatment and Conditioner. I love this organic shampoo and conditioner combo as they have improved the health of my scalp and locks immensely. My hair is soft and shiny, as well as there being more of it (due to less breakage). I also love the fact that the conditioner acts as a scalp treatment which is meant to be massaged in at the roots, which feels quite indulgent as using conditioner on your roots is an urge we are told to resist. My hair is the best it’s been in a long time thanks to this duo.” – bh’s Natasha

Redken Color Extend Magnetics Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Conditioner

“I love Redken Color Extend Magnetics Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Conditioner because it feels really rich and luxurious in my hair, but also helps me to maintain that post-salon-visit shine (very hard for blondes!) and keeps my hair nice and soft. Plus the bright pink packaging means my husband stays away from it and I get to use it all!” – bh’s Debbie

L’Occitane Aromachologie Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner

“My fave is the L’Occitane Aromachologie Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner. I have really thick, curly and frizzy hair. Not many shampoos and conditioners help that but these ones do which is why I LOVE them so much. My hair always feels smoother, healthier, shinier and smells really good when I use these. They kind of changed my life when I found them!” – bh’s Eloise

head and shoulders Smooth & Silky Shampoo and Conditioner

head and shoulders Smooth & Silky Shampoo and Conditioner is my favourite! I love the consistency of the shampoo, it lathers really well and when I rinse it out it feels so smooth like a conditioner! I just apply the conditioner to my ends and I can tell it’s really taking care of my hair, I haven’t seen split ends in ages. Usually when I let my hair air dry it can get a bit frizzy but never when I use this product, my hair really does look and feel smooth and silky.” – bh’s Julia

Klorane Shampoo with Chamomile and Conditioner

“As I recently went from being a redhead to a blonde, I realised I needed a shampoo and conditioner that worked for my new hair colour. I tried a few different brands but have settled on Klorane Shampoo with Chamomile and Conditioner  for blonde hair. The shampoo is relatively mild and not too detergent-y which I like, and leaves my hair and scalp feeling really clean but not at all dried out. It took me a while to get used to the conditioner as my hair does not feel super relaxed and soft when using it in the shower, like other conditioners, but the results speak for themselves. After use, my hair is always soft and manageable.  The Klorane shampoo and conditioner leave me with super shiny hair and no brassy tones that can affect blondes. I really, really like them and will keep using them as long as I have blonde hair.” – bh’s Di

Bumble and bumble Sunday Shampoo and Surf Creme Rinse Conditioner

“My favourite shampoo and conditioner of all time would have to be the Bumble and bumble Sunday Shampoo ($36, mecca.com.au) and Surf Creme Rinse Conditioner ($39, mecca.com.au). The Sunday Shampoo cleanses and removes all that product that has built-up throughout the week, without stripping or leaving your hair feeling dry. And the Surf Creme Rinse Conditioner is the perfect lightweight option for those that love the body, bounce and texture of beach hair.” – bh’s Aja

KEVIN.MURPHY ANGEL.WASH and ANGEL.RINSE

“I love KEVIN.MURPHY ANGEL.WASH ($38.95, adorebeauty.com.au) and ANGEL.RINSE ($39.95, adorebeauty.com.au). No other duo makes my fine, colour damaged hair feel so soft and bouncy. The fact that they are both sulphate free is a huge plus because it means that the formula won’t dry out my hair extensions or strip them of their colour. I also love how the baby pink bottles look in my shower.” – bh’s Sophie

Christophe Robin Volumising Shampoo and Conditioner

“I’m a tough crowd when it comes to shampoo and conditioner. I’ve got colour-treated hair with oily roots and dry ends so I’m always looking for the next hair product to rock my world. I’m so happy that I found the Christophe Robin Volumising Shampoo ($44.60, adorebeauty.com.au) and Conditioner ($50, adorebeauty.com.au). It gives my hair everything it needs by boosting my lank roots, hydrating my damaged ends and keeping my colour locked firmly in place. Even though it’s formulated for fine hair, it does wonders for my thick locks, too. It’s my job to try oodles of new hair products (tough gig, right?) but this is one duo that I always go back to.” – bh’s Kate
