Sexy in the city – page 2

Sexy Samantha is charismatic, cheeky and confident. Steal some of Sam’s sassiness by matching her sleek hairstyle. “Samantha’s look is achievable with a soft, voluminous blow-dry and a little bit of movement through the ends,” explains 2008 AHFA Australian Hairdresser of the Year, Robert Bava. Here’s the how-to…

1. First apply a volume mousse (I use Sebastian Evokativ Lustfull) to damp hair.

2. Tip head upside down and blast dry the roots to create root lift. Leave the hair a little damp on the ends.

3. Flip the head up, then using a medium to large size round brush, section the hair from the nape, and smooth the ends in a rolling motion around the brush, working up to the top of the head section by section.

4. For extra hold, loop each dried section around your fingers, and pin into a curl: this allows the hair to set with more body. Or for an easier alternative place each dried section into a Velcro roller and leave to set.

5. Once you have finished styling let the hair cool down for around 10 mins. Remove any pin curls/Velcro rollers and shake the hair out with your fingers.

6. To finish, tip head upside down again and spray with a burst of hairspray to the root area again (I use Sebastian Body Double Thick Finish Volumizing Hairspray).

7. Finish by gently smoothing the hair with a serum or polish such as Sebastian Laminates Drops. Smooth right through to the ends of the hair.
