We Review: New year beauty essentials

It’s a new year, which means now is the perfect opportunity to refresh our beauty routines and start 2018 fresh. And for us here at beautyheaven, that means finding new beauty saviours that solve (almost) all our problems.

So if you’re ready to discover your new Holy Grail products for the year, look no further. Get ready to fall in love with the facial oil that’s got bh’s Kristy glowing, the haircare duo that’s bh’s Kate’s summer saviour, the multi-tasking cream blush that bh’s Sophie loves and the new look bh’s Michelle is sporting thanks to a very special salon.

Hair Recipe Honey & Apricot Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner

bh’s Kate says:

“It’s summer, which means my hair has well and truly been put through the ringer. From hot days under the sun, to swims in the ocean and chlorine-filled pools, to all those party season events that require avid heat-styling – my hair has really seen it all this year and it’s only January! Thankfully, as if from the heavens above, the Hair Recipe Honey & Apricot Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner appeared on my desk and I knew it was fate. I immediately adopted the duo and worked them into my hair washing routine in an effort to combat all the dry, dull vibes my hair has been giving off. After just one wash, I noticed a massive improvement in the smoothness of my hair and my worn-out strands were starting to look less damaged. After a few more washes, I’m happy to report that my hair is back to its shiny, healthy best – but with the added bonus of an intoxicating honey and apricot scent. They’ll definitely be kept on high rotation because this duo have saved my strands this summer!”

Natural Instinct Vitamin C + Camellia Oil

bh’s Kristy says:

“I’m quite partial to a facial oil. I’ve been using them on and off for quite a few years now, and made it my goal at the end of last year to make them a regular in my skin care routine – and it’s paid off! This Natural Instinct Vitamin C + Camellia Oil doesn’t have a runny texture so it’s easy to apply. After I cleanse at night, I’ve been replacing my night cream with this oil and massaging two to three drops into my face. While I haven’t seen a reduction in fine lines, my skin feels more hydrated and looks brighter and clearer.”

CANMAKE Cream Cheek

bh’s Sophie says:

“When the CANMAKE Cream Cheek landed on my desk, I was excited to try it for three reasons. Firstly, I love a multi-tasking makeup product and this cream blush doubles as a lip colour, instantly making it a handbag staple. Secondly, CANMAKE offer the cutest packaging ever. Who doesn’t want adorable-looking makeup products? And thirdly, this cream blush has the most unique gel texture that literally melts into your skin. It dries almost instantly after you’ve applied it and once it’s on your skin, it won’t budge. The formula contains squalene and amino acid-based emollients that help to protect your skin from drying out. This is an absolute must in the current unpredictable weather. I’d recommend this cream blush to anyone who is looking for a fresh, dewy-looking cheek colour that won’t dry out their complexion.”

Edwards and Co

bh’s Michelle says:

“I’m a natural brunette, fake redhead, and have been having foils over the top for a couple of years now. The constant bleaching hasn’t been great for my hair health (to say the least!) and I don’t love the tone from the red colour underneath. I decided a complete change was in order and Torie from Edward & Co was recommended as the colourist to see –  and she absolutely lives up to the hype. I was after a new colour and style that’s easier to maintain and will look healthier, so we decided a brunette base with some subtle highlights pulled through would suit my requirements and my skin tone. The first step was to fill in the blonde with a red dye, then follow it with a cool chestnut tint. While it was processing Torie pulled out and toned small sections. Once the colour was complete, I was in stylist Craig’s hands. I gave him the go-ahead to do whatever he wanted – a hairdresser’s dream! – so he did. Craig cut off 4 inches from the length and kept it even at the back for easy styling. He then added a side-swept fringe blending back into light layers around my face and finished it off with an awesome blow dry. I love it and am one very happy client!”
