Runway to reality

Runway to reality

Just because you’re not a model, doesn’t mean you can’t strut down the street sporting a head turning hairstyle. Here’s how to steal their style!

Hotel Bondi Swim, RAWF 2008

The style: Voluminous beach locks

“Firstly, I needed to understand the essence of the Hotel Bondi Swim girl. Designers Fern Levack and Damien Fuller explained that she is an outdoor girl who loves the sun and surf. She is creative and modern thinking and perhaps a little kooky, so the hair needed to represent this.

“The look was big, unbrushed and matte with a salty texture. Think Brooke Shields in the film Blue Lagoon.

“This texture can be achieved in a less exaggerated way when you do it yourself at home. Firstly, apply Redken Fabricate 03 (a texturizer) evenly throughout damp hair. This will give the hair body and a matte look.

“We dried the hair roughly – using fingertips to create added texture – until it was 100% dry. Then we gave the hair a clean middle parting and finished with Redken Workforce 09 (anti-humidity spray).”
