Phone your granny: the beehive is back

While the beehive may automatically take some minds straight to Amy Winehouse’s trashy matted ‘do, we want to reinforce – with all of our might – that the beehive can be really beautiful, if you know how to do it right. Just think Brigitte Bardot beauties!

So we sought some help from the professionals –Alyce Lees, Education Director of Oscar Oscar salons to be exact – and she showed us how it’s done. Here’s your step-by-step guide…

1) Apply some AVEDA Phomollient Styling Foam through your hair, workjing from root to tip.Ӭ2) Section your hair into two ponytails, one on top of the other, up near the crown of your head.
3) Tease each ponytail separately to create fullness and volume. This will support the height needed to create this look.Ӭ4) Use the lower ponytail (the one closest to the nape of your neck) as the inner section of the beehive, by wrapping it around its base. This will help create an inner bun, and hence the shape of the beehive.Ӭ4) Fan the top ponytail (the one closest to the crown of your head) down over your newly created inner bun, covering it completely and tucking the ends just under the inside bun. Secure in place with pins.

6) Brush any remaining front sections of hair to the side, and secure in place with pins. Ӭ7) Finish with a spritz of firm hold hairspray, such as AVEDA Control Force.
