At what age should women cut off their long hair?

by

Women really do have it tough sometimes. I mean, there’s the whole monthly cycle thing, and the whole pregnancy thing, and then there’s this: a female is no longer allowed to keep her hair long after the age of 46.

As recently reported in The Daily Mail, according to a poll of 2,000 women over 40, when a lady reaches the age of 46, she must chop off her long locks in favour of a more mature, age-appropriate ‘do. She must also stop wearing ponytails, ditch the extensions, and put an end to heavy bleaching and visible regrowth.

According to said poll, if you compare your hair and your complexion, your hair is actually more likely than your skin to give away your true age. This means it’s clearly in your best interest to keep our hair in tip-top shape once you’re over the 40 mark. And apparently that means well-styled strands that don’t go below the shoulders.

And here we were thinking all we needed to worry about was grey, unruly strands – turns out we now need to rethink our entire ‘do. Here’s hoping that if you’re over 40 your hairdresser can treat you to a style that’s both stylish and short in length. Because no one wants to look old fashioned, right?

What do you think about these hair survey results? At what point do you think a woman should cut her long hair? Can older women wear ponytails?
