How to get your guy into grooming

Is your one beauty wish that your man would moisturise? Or style his hair a bit better? Or smell nicer? Well, you’ve come to the right place.

Getting your guy to groom may seem like an impossible task, but believe me when I say he isn’t a lost cause. Here’s how to get him to take a bit more pride in his appearance (no nagging required)…

You wish: His skin wasn’t so rough.
He needs: A face scrub and a moisturiser.

Fact: Soft skin is pretty irresistible, so it’s actually in his best interest to ensure his face is super-smooth. Tell him this as you introduce him to two new bathroom buddies: a face scrub for the shower and moisturiser to follow. He only needs to use the scrub once a week, so no ‘buts’.

Try: GAIA Made for Men Face & Body Scrub and Dr. LeWinn’s Men’s Day Moisturiser SPF 15.

You wish: He didn’t have hair there.
He needs: A man-friendly hair removal product.

It’s not as if you want to banish every hair on his body, but that funny patch on his back has GOT to go. To get him to draw the same conclusion without coming across as bitchy, mention your own hair removal routine (and how much better you feel having silky-smooth pins for summer). Then, casually ask him if he’s bothered by his own body hair. If all goes to plan, he’ll be begging you for the below.

Try: Nad’s For Men Body Waxing Strips or Veet For Men Hair Removal Gel Cream.

You wish: He had a few less greys.
He needs: A simple way to conceal them.

Not every bloke can pull off the ‘silver fox’ look. The good news is, you don’t have to convince your guy to sit while you painstakingly dye his hair for him. All he needs is a clever shampoo that cleans and colours his greys for him. How’s that for multi-tasking?!

Try: Just For Men Shampoo-in Haircolour

You wish: He smelled sexier.
He needs: A signature scent.

Because deodorant doesn’t count. Sorry!  A signature scent can make a classy Christmas or birthday present – here are some of our favourites to get you started! Just be sure to rave about how good he smells when he sprays it on.

Try: John Varvatos Vintage or Mary Kay High Intensity Sports Cologne Spray.

You wish: He had nicer nails.
He needs: A no-fuss nailbrush and clippers.

Nothing says he has his life sorted like nice nails. They’ll look a million times better minus the grime – and it’ll only take him 10 seconds to scrub them clean with a nailbrush. Nail clippers are a must-have for keeping them neat and tidy.

Try: Manicare Wooden Nail Brush and Davinci Nail Clipper.
