Walk on the wild side

Walk on the wild side

It’s official – we’re only four episodes into Project Runway and I am addicted. Did you see it last night? I cannot believe how catty Kellyanne is – surely she belonged on the Lion Team with antics like that?

Of course I love the drama – the highs, the lows, the passion for fashion – as much as the next gal, but my main enthusiasm lies in the hair and make-up.

Which is why I’m thrilled to bits that beautyheaven has backstage access to master hairstylist Joh Bailey, who’s heading up the TRESemmé team.

Today, he’s talking The Lion Team (my favourite from last night) and the roaringly elegant hairstyles that Anthony, Mark and William sent down the runway…

Look 1: Anthony’s model

Step 1: if you have wavy/curly hair use TRESemmé Thermal Creations Curl Activator Spray to create and hold your curls. If you’re working with straight tresses then be sure to use TRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Protective Spray before curling with tongs – this light spray is ideal for fine hair.

Step 2: once hair is curled, pull hair back into a messy low ponytail. Any loose pieces of hair around the face can be softly pinned back.

Step 3: loosely plait the ponytail and voila, you’re ready to go get ‘em tiger. Oh sorry – lion.

Look 2: Mark’s model

Step 1: blow-dry hair straight.

Step 2: apply TRESemmé Salon Silk No Frizz Serum to tame any stray hair – flyaways are so not fashion friendly so use this professional strength formula to leave hair soft and healthy looking with killer shine.

Step 3: part hair in the centre, then take the front left section of the hair and braid down the side of your head until you get just past your ear. Secure with a band.  Do the same with the right side and you’ll be the pride of the pack.

Look 3: William’s model

Step 1: blow-dry hair straight.

Step 2: separate hair into four sections. Next, loop each section up and bobby pin into your hairline (a few pins will be required!) – do this for all sections.
Step 3: finish with TRESemmé Freeze Hold Extra Strong Hairspray to hold the look in place. (Insider info: this is Joh Bailey’s favourite product – he loves its quick-drying and extreme control ingredients.)

Which was your favourite outfit and hair look from last night?

For the latest Project Runway news, shoes and views, and of course, Bailey’s expert tips, strut this way…
