If you’ve been wondering whether you should dye your hair pink, JLo just gave you another compelling reason.

The singer and JLo Beauty founder traded in her signature bronde for a pastel pink, as revealed via hairstylist Chris Appleton’s Instagram.

Now, our first thought when it comes to colourful hair transformations like this is of course: is it a wig?

And gosh, it is damn hard to tell.

Her roots are left dark, which creates a grown-out effect that suggests there could be an element of real to it. We also love how some lighter pastel pink highlights are interwoven with darker to create dimension — this is how to do pink hair people.

Of course, this isn’t the first time JLo has been total #hairgoals. Remember that Super Bowl performance blowout? Or how she all got us hooked on the glass hair trend? All the work of Appleton too, of course.

Thinking of following in JLo’s pink hair footsteps?

Find your pefect pink

This shade of fairy floss looks stunning on JLo, but there’s a whole spectrum of pink to choose from and customise. We’re huge fans of rose gold hair. Plus, if you don’t want to bleach from root to tip, pink balayage is also an option.

Protect your hair health

If you need to lighten your hair first in order to turn it pink, make sure to fill your routine with strengthening and repairing hair products. You may also find your hair becomes drier and experiences a change in texture as a result. A hair oil will become your new styling BFF.

bh recommends: JUSTICE Professional Repairing Conditioner ($19.95 at amazon.com.au), Goldwell DUALSENSES Bond Pro 60Sec Treatment ($30.50 at Oz Hair & Beauty) and Goldwell Elixir Oil Treatment ($29.95 at Price Attack).

Upkeep you colour

Pastel pinks in particular have the habit of fading fast. Keep your colour intact for longer with an at-home hair toner like Scott Cornwall Colour Restore Candy ($17 at Coles).

Do you like JLo’s pink hair? Would you ever try the colour yourself?

  1. I’m more of a purple girl myself, although I did have pink hair at one stage, you do need to bleach your hair a lot though or it just won’t show up. I can see why BH and others like the shade Rose Gold, it’s a bit more subtle.

  3. Doesn’t suit her, I think her skin is too warm for this and her hair is overly bleached so looks like a straw. She used to have thick healthy hair. She does look stunning regardless always!

  4. I love that colour but for some reason I don’t like it on her. I also think she has great eyebrows but her overlined lips aren’t done very well. I usually think she’s stunning no matter what but I do not like this look at all. That’s just my opinion.

  5. When my daughter wanted pink hair around 5 years ago…I was warned by hairdressers that it would probably wreck her hair because her hair was brown and would have to be stripped of colour first to get it white so that the pink would show…..they were right and it seemed to have turned her thick locks into fine hair even now after her hair is natural again.
