Is it the bomb to be blonde?

Is it the bomb to be blonde?

After being a blonde for pretty much 28 years of my life, my mid-year switch to a rich brown hue was definitely a major change. Once the shock factor wore off (I got a fright every time I caught sight of myself in a reflective surface for a good two weeks), I settled in to my new look, enjoying experimenting with new make-up shades and updating my wardrobe in the name of needing new clothes to match my new hair.

But despite all the excitement, I’d be lying if I didn’t say I felt a pang of longing every time a mop of blonde hair swooshed past me in the streets. And when it got to the point where I was ogling every blonde girl like the local workmen on the construction site down the road, well…I knew it was time to follow my heart.

So I headed back to Sydney’s Headcase Hair salon, where my colourist, Vincent, and I finally bade farewell to my chocolate locks, and brought back the blonde with Wella Professionals Blondor – an in-salon hair colourant designed to lighten hair while simultaneously nourishing and conditioning it.

A few weeks on and the question is still being asked of me – do blondes really have more fun? Well, I’ve certainly been having a lot of fun lately, but I’d say that’s more to do with the fact that I feel more confident now that I’m sporting a shade that’s much more ‘me’. After all, happiness is not really about whether you’re a blonde or a brunette, but rather how secure you feel within yourself!

Three reasons why I love being a blonde…

 – I don’t have to wear nearly as much make-up as I did when I was a brunette, which had the tendency to leave my skin looking somewhat washed out.

 – During summer, the time spent outdoors will naturally highlight my hair, making touch-up trips to the salon less frequent.

 – I can get away with an extra day or two between shampoos as my dry shampoo blends perfectly with blonde, not dulling it down one bit!

Do you think blondes have more fun? Which hair colour do you like best on yourself?
