How-to: post workout hair

I don’t know about you, but the thought of dealing with my sweaty mop is enough to have me driving straight home after the gym; I just don’t have the time (or the patience) to deal with the sweaty, dirty aftermath I’m left with after a workout session.

It’s been said that some ladies don’t tend to work out at their full capacity when at the gym for fear of having to spend the time washing and styling their mop all over again. It’s crazy, isn’t it?

So how do we battle this issue? Well, luckily there are a couple of handy hints that could see you going straight from workout to after-work drinks without fear of looking like the greasy-haired lady that isn’t as pretty and polished as she’d like to be.

TIP TO TREAT POST-WORKOUT HAIR #1:
Make dry shampoo your best friend. It may seem a little obvious, but using dry shampoo the right way can help to make you feel as though you have actually just washed your hair. That means more than just a spritz at the roots – to feel fresh all over be sure to spritz the roots of your hair around the sides of your head, near your ears and also through the lengths before brushing through. We like Batiste Tropical Dry Shampoo for a delightfully fresh scent. Finish off with a spritz of Dry Conditioner (such as Cedel Dry Conditioner), this marvellous hair refresher works to tame frizz, add volume and provide a shot of hydration to your hair

TIP TO TREAT POST-WORKOUT HAIR #2:
Smooth out those kinks. If you’re a Fitness First member, you’ll know that you have ready access to a hair straightener after your workout – and it’s a good thing, too. Flicky ends and unflattering hair elastic kinks are definitely enough to make you steer clear of after-gym engagements. Don’t go to a gym with straighteners at the ready? Or prefer to use your own? Then be sure to pack your VS Sassoon miniPRO™ Satin Touch Straightener, which heats up in 30 seconds, features satin touch plates and is compact enough to fit in your handbag.

TIP TO TREAT POST-WORKOUT HAIR #3:
Set your style while you sweat. Know you have somewhere to be after your workout and want to keep your hair-styling time to a minimum? Then think ahead. Before your workout, slick your hair back into a sleek low ponytail and twist the lengths into a rope-like formation before wrapping your ends around the elastic to create a bun shape. Finish by securing the bun in place with another elastic and proceed to your workout. Once you’ve finished, spritz a little dry shampoo and hair spray over your ‘do before un-doing your style. You’ll be left with gorgeous, boho waves that look totally effortless.
