How to: mermaid tresses

It’s nice to know that as the temperature drops, there’s more than one way of turning locks into Splash-style waves. (We don’t really fancy a dip right now.) Bek Chadwick from PReMA Bondi Junction, who styled the Michael Lo Sordo RAFW show on behalf of Aveda, revealed that the mermaid tress look is ridiculously easy to replicate. That’s music to our ears Bek.

Chadwick revealed that brief was all about a girl looking like she’d just stepped out of the ocean. “It looks like a girl has come straight out of the water and run her fingers through her hair.” We love a nice and easy, mermaid-inspired ‘do so how do we get one?

“Well, we used the girls’ natural texture as well as Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion. It’s a dry powder that turns into paste in the hands and gives hair that just-got-out-of-the-ocean feel.” Surely it can’t be that simple?

Almost. “We also used Aveda Self Control Stick Pomade which is a hair styling stick and Aveda Pure Abundance Volumizing Hair Spray to get the look.” That’s it. Simple, sexy and super-fast.
