How to get beach waves in winter

Summer seems to be a simpler time for hair. No rain looming over your locks, no wind to mess up your fringe, and no threat of a cold if you let your hair dry naturally. Not to mention the small (who am I kidding – huge) sense of victory you feel when you come home from the beach, look in the mirror and see those effortlessly fabulous beach waves. No straightener, no dryer and no hairspray required. A fist pumping moment for all those who constantly need to heat style their hair.

Thankfully, there is a way that you can achieve said beach waves without braving the freezing cold ocean water in winter. All you need is a few simple ingredients and a spray bottle and you can enjoy beach waves all year round.

DIY sea salt spray

Ingredients

Empty spray bottle

1 cup of hot water

1 tsp. sea salt

1 tsp. jojoba oil

1 tbsp. leave in conditioner, OR 1 tsp. hair gel (depending on desired outcome)

Method

1.Pour the hot water into the spray bottle. Add sea salt and jojoba oil and shake until the salt is dissolved.

2.If you want your waves to hold, add the hair gel.

3.If you want you hair to remain soft, add the leave in conditioner.

4.Shake spray bottle until all ingredients are mixed together.

Application

Spray on damp or dry hair (if you have thick hair damp is best) and scrunch hair up towards your scalp to create the waves. Leave to dry.

For extra-defined waves, spray onto damp hair, braid and leave overnight. Remember that the smaller you braid the tighter the waves will be so take into consideration what style of wave you want to create. Once you take out the braid, spray again and scrunch some more.

Have you ever tried a homemade sea salt spray? How do you style your hair without heat?
