A funky Friday ‘do

A funky Friday ‘do

It seems it’s time for a change of hair. Ginnifer Goodwin’s gone all short and sleek, Halle’s returned to her famous pixie cut, J-Lo’s been rockin’ curtained bangs; Aggy’s had the chop (again) and Rihanna’s hair just keeps getting bigger.

I’m currently in a state of complete indecisiveness about what to do with my ‘do so have decided on a modern French roll, as seen on the RAFW runways of designer of the moment, Dion Lee.

The hair was styled by none other than bh expert Brad Ngata and I think you’ll agree by the shots below, it looks très rock and roll – the perfect Friday night style. Need direction to make this style yours?

Well, first up, you need to section the hair into a low side part. The hair at Dion Lee had quite a “masculine accent with the wet-styling at the front” according to Ngata so you’ll need plenty of L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.art Fix Max Gel, L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.art A. Head Glue and L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.art Liss Control to help slick hair back. Combining all three products ensures they remain pliable and don’t set too firmly so you can avoid that ‘crusty’ look. Phew.

Tip: you’ll need a fine-toothed comb to work the products through the hair. Lady Jayne Comb – Pocket is ideal. Using this, make sure the products are spread evenly throughout the roots to the mid-point of your hair and then secure into a low side pony (just to the left or right of the nape of the neck).

Next apply the gel mixture to the remaining hair – except the very ends of the pony – and then begin to twist the gathered hair in on itself and upwards. The trick? Keep it low and tight into the nape. Now pin for your life and voila – a funky Friday ‘do. Go get ‘em tiger.

What are you up to this weekend?
