We Review: Bathroom basics

Sometimes it feels like something is missing from your beauty routine, doesn’t it? You search high and low for that one mystery product when in actual fact you might just need to update those beauty essentials that always make you feel good.

This month we’re sharing our new beauty basics. From the nourishing hair treatment that made bh’s Kate fall in love with hair oils, to the hydrating eye cream that bh’s Beth swears by, the plumping skin serum that’s got bh’s Rosie raving and the new tan that bh’s Sophie loves for her lily-white skin.

Organic Island Restructuring Eye Crème

bh’s Beth says:

“As a skin care fanatic, I’m a bit embarrassed to admit that eye cream has never been a part of my everyday routine. But lately I’ve noticed my eyes looking and feeling a bit tired-er, so I welcomed the chance to try Organic Island Restructuring Eye Crème. One of the things that’s turned me off using an eye cream in the past is the fact that many of them feel too thick and heavy for me. Not so with this scent-free formula – it still feels really creamy and nourishing, but has a super light texture so it smooths on easily. A small amount covers the entire eye area and it takes a couple of minutes to absorb, which I actually don’t mind as it feels so hydrating. After four weeks of use, I can see that it has really helped to reduce the puffiness around my eyes. I love that it contains hydrating and brightening ingredients like rosehip and sea kelp, which make my eyes appear more fresh. Studying my eyes in the mirror as I write this review, I’ve just noticed that I also have some fine lines in my eye area (shock horror!), which I expect the cream will also help to plump and smooth long term!”

TLW Let’s Get Tacos Treatment Oil

bh’s Kate says:

“The more I heard about the benefits of using an oil on my strands, the more I wanted to try it. But being that I have oily hair already, I was worried that a hair oil would only make my hair more oily and heavy. I now know that using a hair oil isn’t just for dry hair – no matter what your hair type, there’s definitely a hair oil for you – and this TLW Let’s Get Tacos Treatment Oil has become a new favourite! FirstIy, I love the scent of this product – it smells like lollies! The packaging is super cute and easy to use and the oil itself is really lightweight. I like to use the oil as a leave-in treatment after washing my hair, squeezing a small amount into my palm and working it through the ends of my hair. I love how soft it feels once it’s dry and it adds a real shine to my hair! I also enjoy using it on dry hair to seal my split ends and I even use a very small amount of the oil on my roots to smooth down fly-aways. Amazingly, my hair isn’t any more oily – in fact, my hair feels so smooth and sleek without being weighed down. Thanks to this little bottle, I’ve waved goodbye to winter frizz and hello to soft, shiny strands!”

Natural Instinct Plump & Renew Serum

bh’s Rosie says:

“As the years go by, my skin care concerns are becoming more and more related to the signs of ageing – namely fine lines, dullness and pigmentation. With that, and the fact that I’m trying to incorporate more natural skin care products in my routine, this Natural Instinct serum was a must-try for me. It works by helping to improve wrinkles, hydrate the skin and correct the skin tone for a brighter, more even complexion. The serum has a really smooth texture, and one pump is enough to cover my face, neck and décolletage. My skin immediately looks hydrated and more plump, and after using it for a couple of weeks now, my skin is looking brighter. I haven’t really noticed any significant improvement in my fine lines yet, but I look forward to seeing these results with more time.”

Le Tan Uber Dark Ash Base

bh’s Sophie says:

“As someone whose natural skin tone is the same as Casper the friendly ghost’s, fake tanning without turning an alarming shade of orange can be a challenge. So when I heard that Le Tan’s latest tanning product had a base colour specifically designed for fair skin tones, I HAD to try it! This tanning foam has an ash base that gives pale girls a really dark cool-brown tan, without a hint of orange. Don’t believe me? You can see my results here. This tan complements my skin tone really well! The first time I tried it, I double-coated and left it on overnight so that I could get the deepest tan possible. The results were flawless! The next time I tried the tan I only applied one coat and left it on for three hours, which still left me with a pretty dark tan. One of my favourite things about this tan is the fact that it’s completely fragrance-free – something that many fake tanners claim, but few actually achieve. This tan is a must for pale girls who want a deep, dark tan, without turning an embarrassing shade of orange.”
