Red wine is the secret to great hair, apparently

Red wine drinkers are undoubtedly the classiest of all with their bowl-like glasses, ~*SoPhIsTiCaTeD*~ conversations and burgundy stained pouts, but did you know their drink of choice could also be the key to great hair? Yep, according to Dita Von Teese’s hairstylist, John Blaine, this is definitely a thing.

But before you go and celebrate by downing half a dozen bottles of Bordeaux, Blaine says there’s one key difference. Rather than drinking the wine, it has to be put on the hair directly. And no, putting your hair into a bucket of the stuff also won’t do the trick. Soz guys.

In fact, Blaine’s so committed to the idea that he’s gone and started his own haircare line, Vine de la Vie, which contains polyphenols, the active compound found in wine.

TBF, it looks like more than a hunch – Blaine’s got science on his side. Polyphenols are used by doctors to combat everything from cancer and heart conditions to inflammation. When used on hair, polyphenols are superstar repair workers, mending damage, strengthening strands, detoxifying and neutralising oxidation. In short, polyphenols = strong, healthy, brass-free hair.

While the Vine de la Vie is not yet available in Oz, you can check out the full range of prods on the website here.

In the meantime it looks like we’ll just have to find something to pass the time…

Would you use wine on your hair? What’s the craziest hair tip you’ve ever heard?
