5 ways to make your hair grow faster
The lob might be the cut of the moment – with the likes of Kim Kardashian, Emma Stone and Lara Bingle rocking the shorter ‘do – but long, luscious hair will always have a place in my heart. It makes me green with envy. I’m looking at you, Blake Lively. If you feel the same and are looking to grow your hair, or simply keep it in tip-top condition, follow these tips…
#1 Load up on wholefoods
True health begins on the inside. Want long, shiny strands? Up your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables containing silica and zinc – these minerals are key for hair growth. You can find silica in leafy green vegetables, cucumber and strawberries, while red meat, spinach and nuts (particularly cashews) are high in zinc. Eat up!
If you struggle to get enough vitamins and minerals in your diet, consider taking a supplement. Blackmores Nails Hair & Skin is loaded with nutrients essential for strong, healthy nails, hair and skin.
#2 Brush, brush, brush
Brushing stimulates your scalp’s blood circulation and spreads its natural oils evenly over your hair. This is really important for hair follicle health and new hair growth. For best results, spend two minutes brushing your hair every morning and night. We recommend using a boar bristle brush – like this Lady Jayne Brush – as they specialise in stimulating blood flow.
#3 Get regular trims
We all know getting regular trims helps hair to grow faster, but how many of us actually do this? I’m guilty of skipping the odd appointment. Regular trims will stop your ends from splitting and breaking off – and your hair will never grow longer if it keeps breaking. Makes sense, right? So visit your hairdresser, beauties, and keep those strands strong.
#4 Minimise use of hair tools
Constantly blow-drying, straightening and curling your hair certainly takes its toll. If you want long, luscious hair, it’s best to minimise the use of heat-activated tools. Cut your time in front of the mirror and extend the life of your straight/wavy/curly ‘do with a good dry shampoo. We like De Lorenzo Essential Treatments Absorb Dry Shampoo. And when you do style your hair, make sure you use a heat protection spray like ghd Heat Protect Spray.
#5 Apply a hair mask
Get in the habit of using a deep conditioning hair mask once a week. It’ll work wonders in repairing damage, increasing shine and ensuring your hair is as healthy as can be. Moroccanoil Restorative Hair Mask penetrates deep into the hair shaft to moisturise and restore elasticity. And if your mane is really damaged, leave the mask on overnight, and wash it out in the morning.
