How to: brushed-out curls
Barrel waves and Shirley Temple ringlets have been a coveted hair look for more years than I’d like to admit, constant curl innovations reiterate the desire for the perfect loopy locks.
Times sure have changed, because all I’m seeing on the runways at the moment are low maintenance, no-fuss, brushed-out curls that say effortless-minus-the-whole-can-of-hairspray chic. We called on Benn Jae, Schwarzkopf Professional Australian Hair Expo Award Session Stylist of the Year 2009 to give us the run-down on how to achieve wavy greatness.
To mimic this super-cute ‘do, blow-dry your hair with as much volume as possible, I recommend using Schwarzkopf Professional SEAH HAIRSPA Ocean Mineral Volumiser. Make sure you use a round brush when you blow-dry and try to get as many flicks into those ends as humanly possible. Once finished, heat a medium curling iron and, starting at the nape in inch sections, start to curl your hair making sure all the curls are set in exactly the same direction. Repeat this process for the entire head. Once finished, use a large paddle brush and brush out your curls applying Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS Sparkler as you work. Your glossy locks are now ready to rock.
