VS Sassoon Ceramic Instant Heat Tong– 38mm creates big, bouncy curls, waves and volume. The 38mm ceramic coated barrel distributes heat evenly to create crisper, more defined curls that last. The 25 heat settings make it suitable for all hair types and lengths, while an ultra-fast heating feature means it can be styling the latest looks in only 60 seconds. Basic hair tool that every girl should have!
For a long time I have been on the look out for a large barrel curler with a clamp. The new ones and ones I already own are clampless which means you have to hold your hair with the heatproof glove. I came across the VS Sassoon Ceramic Instant Heat Tong which had a variety of sizes and chose the 38mm which had the largest barrel (similar to the size of the vssassoon big hair barrel (of course not including the height of the bristles). It claimed to have 25 heat settings however this is just the regular heat adjustments you would find on any old heat tong. I find that this isn't ultra-fast heating up, it takes a while but I like to have my tong heated up completely so I get the best curls possible on my stubborn hair.
Due to the size of the barrel I would suggest this for medium -long to long hair because it is rather large. I found that it worked well on my thin hair and I could use large sections but still get defined curls. However I did hold the hair on the barrel for about 15 seconds while I would normally do 10 seconds with other curlers. The curls held nicely with the help of hairspray and looked bouncy and full. This curler is a great basic curler for anyone looking not to spend a great amount but still get great results. This can be found on sale for under $30, so it is really affordable regardless.

This was relatively cheap and since my hair is so thin, I had so hope but I actually like the way these curls drop....
Perfect size for my loooong hair......

Easy to use... great result
This is great and easily curls my long hair... of course you still need a bit of product to help it last!

Not too bad
Love the 38mm size, however I find that my GHD Gold Classic Styler gives me a better result for curls. Good value for money though.

Not worth it for thick hair
Even with thin one inch bunches it takes too long to curl. And having thick hair, it means it takes more time to curl my whole head. And having a lot to curl, you would want something that is quick to do the job. Better off buying a different one.

i have pretty thin hair and this doesnt curl my hair as much as i would like.. it definately doesnt get hot enough! after curling, i pin the strand and spray it and it still doesnt stay curly.. but it does give some volume and it is affordable- 3stars!

I think you get what you pay for....For $30 this was not too bad.I wanted to get big soft less defined curls and so went and bought this 38 mm barrel(The biggest I could find at price line.)The max temp is only 140 and as a result dont expect your style to be long lasting.Even with hairspray (Tresemme)It lasted ony 45 mins ...However as I only wanted loose waves I was not too dissapointed.

Dont Even Look At It
This product is awful, doesn't get hot enough. I could place my hand on it and it would just be a bit hot. Within 20 minutes my curls disappeared even with a lot of hairspray. A big waste of money. I regret buying it.

Not hot enough to hold curl long
If i curled my hair with this tool it would instantly drop within 30 minutes, even after hairspray, but i guess that's what you get for a $30 curling iron. It looks great when you first curl it, but it drops way to fast as it only reaches 140 degrees. Buying this would be pointless if you had hard to curl hair, or thick hair.

Heat setting too low
I was really hoping for soft large luxurious curls with this, but got poorly defined and very, very loose waves instead...the barrel was too large and the maximum heat setting (140 degrees) was not enough to create a proper curl. Only the expensive curlers have the high heat settings of 200 degrees sadly
