The World’s Greatest Shave returns!

At bh, we are all for taking a beauty risk, but it’s not often the risk contributes to saving a life.

If you ask us, the World’s Greatest Shave combines the best of both worlds. You get to unveil a brave, bold new ‘do, and also raise money to support an extremely worthy cause.

But don’t just take it from me. Four years ago, my little sister participated in the event at her school. I’ll never forget when I first laid eyes on her bald head. Here she is prepping to lose her locks…

To say it was an emotional rollercoaster would be an understatement, but would she do it again? “Absolutely”.

If Mil’s awesome experience isn’t enough to convince you, here are some other great reasons to get behind the cause…

1. You already lose hair on a daily basis

Believe it or not, the average person loses between 50 and 100 strands from their head every day. So you might as well go all the way!

2. It grows back faster than you think

Hair is the fastest growing tissue on the body (second only to bone marrow). In fact, it grows at a rate of 1.2cm per month on average. Oh, and we’re even luckier here in Australia, as our warmer climate stimulates circulation and encourages hair growth –  – which means you’ll be sporting an on-trend pixie cut in no time!

3. You’ll save money

Let’s say you get your hair cut and coloured every six to eight weeks and spend around $200 at the hairdresser each time – that’s at least $1500 a year (and that doesn’t include the money you spend on expensive hair products).

4. You’ll save time

Women spend an average of two hours a week styling their hair – and let’s face it: blow-drying is a total bore. If you have no hair, you’ll have more time on your hands for fun things (like shopping for cute beanies)!

5. You’ll save lives

Blood cancer is the third biggest cause of death in Australia, claiming more lives than breast or skin cancer, with around 34 Australians diagnosed each day. The Leukaemia Foundation is committed to reducing this statistic and have raised over $190 million over the past 15 years through their signature fundraising event – World’s Greatest Shave.

Want to help fund lifesaving research and support people with blood cancer get through the toughest of times? Sign up for World’s Greatest Shave 2016 and get sponsored to shave or colour your hair – it’ll be a rewarding and unforgettable experience.
