A hair expert reveals the must-have hair colours for spring

With the hair inspo coming in hard and fast from the Emmys this week, we had a craving to hit the salon, big time. But before booking an appointment, we sought some help to figure out what the hottest hair colour trends are going to be for spring (so we can jump on the bandwagon ASAP).
We spoke to Clive Allwright, co-owner of Our Place salon in Potts Point and Global Artistic Director of Muk Haircare to get the 411 on the colour trends we’re about to start seeing everywhere.

Face-framing babylights, with hidden balayage

If the term ‘hidden balayage’ is new to you - don’t worry, it’s new to us too. Essentially, its when the balayage is so subtle you can barely tell, but it gives the hair more depth and dimension. This trend works particularly well on blondes, helping their hair look thicker and more luscious. Face-framing ‘babylights’ are highlights around the front of your hair that will draw attention to your face and brighten up your look. Almost anyone can benefit from some face-framing babylights, and they’ll be sure to give your whole look a spring refresh.
Warm ‘rusty’ brunettes

The temptation to go blonde as it gets warmer is real, but instead of going full-blown bleach, try working with what you’ve got and add in some subtle, rusty highlights. This is a super simple way for brunettes to get a spring-time colour update without the upkeep.
Pastel, shimmering, apricot tones

This one is Clive’s personal favourite at the moment, and he’s particularly enjoying the ‘watermelon tones’ of Sophie Turner’s current ‘do. The way Sophie’s warmed up her classic blonde with a light shimmer of apricot, getting lighter from the roots down, is stunning hairspo for blondes who want to try something new, without committing to a drastic transformation.
Kylie Jenner also recently rocked an apricot-toned wig, further cementing this shade as one to watch in spring 2019.
Are you going to try anything new with your hair this spring?

Baby Soft Skin
This product exceeded my expectations massively. The texture of the product is really nice light and no smell whatsoever.
Not worth it
I got this in a Christmas kit in the shade Lean in. I’m not sure if the problem is the shade or the gloss itself but I don’t think it’s a product to use on its own.
Super glittery and not very lasting
I got this product in the shade 872 Glit/Doré. I find that the colour looks nice on first application but as soon as you blend it it fades and you’re just left with a bunch of glitter in your eye.
