4 spring hair colours that will freshen up your 'do
If you’re anything like me, your hair is usually the place you go to when looking for a style shake-up. Our hair is one of the first things people will notice about us, and with so many styles, colours and treatments to enhance our luscious locks, it’s no wonder it can get a tad overwhelming! But with the party season of summer fast approaching, now’s the time to be bold and make a change. Here are a few daring colours and trends worth a go (especially if you want to make a bold new statement).
So this trend hit the streets a while back with the likes of Lauren Conrad, but since then the look has shifted. Bolder colours like green, red and purple are fast becoming hot shades to jump on, and are undoubtedly the perfect way to give your locks some fresh lovin’. For darker hair, stronger colours like deep violet or red work best. Take some inspiration from Jessie J and her purple locks (although who knows what colour she’s got now!). For lighter hair, go even brighter! Think Abby Lee Kershaw’s hot pink tresses, Kate Bosworth and her green ends or Jaime King with her blue to green blend.
Being a redhead myself, I’ve got a soft spot for this trend, and am so excited to see more lovely ladies embracing this outrageous colour. The bolder the better, we say, so don’t be afraid to amp up the scarlet shades. Schwarzkopf LiveColour (semi-permanent) in Red Embers is the perfect way to try this hot hue, without the commitment of a permanent hair colour.
Brown? Blonde? It’s both! If you fall into one of these hair colour categories, then chances are you’ll look fabulous rocking some mixed tones through your tresses. Channel a Jennifer Hawkins or Lara Bingle look that clashes brunette and blonde in the age-old quest for the perfect dirty blonde. For darker hair, Schwarzkopf Nordic Blonde Ultimate Lightener L1++ uses a lightening formula to bleach the hair up to eight shades lighter. Indola Profession Colour Style Mousse is a temporary colour available in 12 shades, and it’s not permanent - so be adventurous!
The most refreshing take on highlights at the moment is pink. Yes, you heard right – fairy floss pink! The look blends fairy floss pink through your locks to give it new dimensions, and will work best with fair hair. Check out stars like Ellie Goulding or Dakota Fanning, who play up this trend in an oh-so-cute fashion. For tricky trends like this one (much like the dip-dye), a trip to the hairdressers to discuss your options is a worthwhile investment.
