Root Retoucher Reviews

I tried the Schwarzkopf Root Retoucher in Black and it was so easy to use - I loved it! I've tried lots of different products before, in an effort to cover up my regrowth and those pesky grey hairs. The Root Retoucher is the first one that truly lasted, didn't feel sticky and didn't stain my skin. The nozzle of the spray bottle is fantastic, it allows you to point and target specific lines or areas without fear of spraying all over the place. There's no chemical smell and the product feels a little cold when it touches your scalp, it settles almost immediately and does not come off when you touch it. Overall I found this product met all my needs, it as a little expensive but could be worth it if you really struggle with grey hairs standing out! Based off the product alone, I would definitely recommend!

I have hair that is dyed black, with light brown/blonde roots, and I find that this product does cover my roots fairly well. I can't feel that the product is in my hair so there's no stiff, sticky or powdery feeling. I've noticed that in photos the roots don't look completely black, but rather a dark brown, so the coverage could possibly be a bit better but maybe it just requires using a bit more product.

Some of my problems with this product are that the spray nozzle covers a larger area than what I'd like for just covering roots (I do like how fine and effective the mist is though) and while pushing down the nozzle to spray product sometimes a few drops of the product have dropped onto my skin. My biggest problem with the product is that it doesn't seem to dry down so when I've used it in spots I touch more it gets on my fingers, under my nail, and when not being wary of that I've ended up with smudges of the product around my face and body.

I think it's a good and effective product overall but some extra fine tuning would be lovely.

I had heard so much about this and was really excited to trial it!!!

I really loved the colour guide on the side of the can and how can of spray could be used for some many different shades... I really loved the nozzle on the can as it has a little end bit that allows you to get deep into the roots... I liked too that I was able to play with the colour to get it how I wanted... I could spray a little and see how it looked and then go a bit more if it needed it... What really appealed to me was the fact that if I did too much I could simply wash my hair with shampoo and start again... I liked how simple and quick the results were and how even sweating they stayed all day... No run or mess...

The only thing that I really didn't like was the smell... It smelt funny, but it didn't linger... I did worry if I used it a lot how much of it I would be breathing in...

Great for in between colour appointments... Really cool products and I'm glad I go tot try it...

Before trialling the Schwarzkopf Root Retoucher I had never used a product like it before. I is definitely a great idea. I found the products instructions easy to follow and it was very quick to use. On application the product had no scent that I could notice. The tiny spray nozzle ensured a powerful spray of product onto my hair and the products pigment worked well to cover up my roots and blend well with the rest of my hair. I really liked that the product easily washed out when I shampooed my hair, this made using it less daunting knowing it was not permanent and a quick fix for dyed hair. I found that when I was applying it droplets of product sprayed outside of the main stream of product and this meant that it got on my forehead and scalp. This became quite messy and due to my pale skin was hard to remove even when wiped straight away. Although the application was quick the tidying up was not. I liked that the product didn't contain any harsh properties and was suitable for more sensitive skin.

I have used a root retoucher before but didn't like the results because it felt sticky and powdery. So I haven't tried one in a while but this one I gave a go. It's nice to use as a dry shampoo as well. I like the packaging and the colour range of this line, especially that it's available in the supermarket. This is a product that's great to use when you have an upstyle and need to cover roots. I held the can about 20 cm from my head and starting from the crown of the head sprayed into sections. I only spray my middle part as the last section because by that point you would've naturally dispersed some product from the other secitons into it so it only needs a little bit. This way it still looks natural. This works well on all hair types, my very fine but lots of hair and my mums thicker hair. It washed out easily and doesn't transfer if you let it dry for a few minutes.
