Gatsby-inspired hairstyles have been popping up everywhere since the movie’s release last month, and while we’ve become accustomed to bobs, finger waves and bold lips on celebrities, I would never have thought I’d see it on a member of parliament.

Julia’s hair was a darker, more vibrant shade of red last night at the Press Gallery Midwinter Ball and had been trimmed into a flattering bob with a glamorous 1920’s wave.

She matched this with defined eyes, bronzed cheeks and a dark red lip – something that opposition leader Tony Abbott would never be able to pull off. Bravo Gillard!
