3 winter hair colour techniques: Colour bomb
Highlights are big year-round, but throughout the winter months they’re more suitable in subtle, more natural-looking tones. Watch Beth show you how to create this on-trend and easy-to-achieve look with the Schwarzkopf colour bomb technique.
For this look, choose a shade that complements your natural hair colour. Beth is using Romantic Brown from the Schwarzkopf Brilliance range.
- Starting with two pigtails, take a comb and gently brush the hair backwards until both pigtails are teased.
- With your shoulders covered and protective gloves on, empty the Schwarzkopf Diamond Gloss Serum and Colour Crème into the application bottle and shake until it forms a smooth cream.
- Next, use your hands to scrunch small amounts of colour into the ends of your hair.
- Leave this to process for up to 30 minutes, checking regularly that the colour development is reaching your desired result.
- To finish, add some water to emulsify the colour, then rinse your hair until the water runs clear and condition with the Schwarzkopf Brilliance Colour-Shine Conditioner.

I'm going to give my hair a little change tomorrow night I think. A little red might spice things up a little ;)

I really like this technique and the result on your hair looks great!!!. I need to try the Decolour product first. I went too dark. Shame this article didn't come out a month ago.

I have long dark brown hair I'd love to give this a go with a bright red colour to add a pop of autumn colour. Beth makes this look really easy, hopefully mine turns out just as nice

I love this idea, but my hair is too short for this. Looks great on you though Beth.

I used a very similar technique for my diy balayage, except I made about twelve small ponytails.

Love this and you make it look so easy. I bet it is harder to do than it seems but can give it a go :). These videos have inspired me.

Wow Beth, I haven't seen you with your hair up before. In every BH video or picture, it's down. I LOVE your hair back a little (maybe not quite pigtails ;-) ). Love the finished result too :-)

Looks beautiful - perfect for the younger ones without grey roots or needing re-growth touch ups. How about something for the older ladies who use their grey/white hair as hi lights and add colour back into the rest of their hair?

This is a great idea, makes me wish my hair was long enough for pigtails!
