Look we love: Blonde hair, bold brows

You’d think that it would be a big no-no in the beauty world: white-blonde locks and dark, bold brows. But it’s very, very right.

Matching your hair to your brows (or vice versa) is fairly standard, but it can make you look washed out. On the flipside, contrasting is a great way to accentuate your features, especially the eyes. It’s deliberately edgy, and makes for one serious statement. Whether it’s slight or drastic, the choice is up to you.
Need inspiration? Take notes from these 16 leading ladies who absolutely own the mismatched beauty look:
Margot Robbie
Homegrown beauty Margot knows where it's at, proving the look is internationally recognised as a hit.
Miley Cyrus
Who says platinum blonde and dark brows don't mix? Turns out, opposites attract.
Cara Delevingne
Her blonde may be a little dirtier, but that doesn't stop those arches from becoming the best bushy brows in the biz.
Julianne Hough
With that 'wider than a mile' grin and big icy blues, Julianne is the all-American girl. But those perfectly sculpted brows and multi-dimensional blonde hair give her just the right amount of edge.
Michelle Williams
Oh Michelle, you are a vision. Whether she’s lobbed, bobbed or pixie cropped them, her blonde locks are always spot on. Those bold brows give her fair skin and soft features a bit of edge.
Rita Ora
Rita’s look is fierce and feminine, and has us reaching for the bleach blonde bottle. #werkit
Brigitte Bardot
With blonde locks, black winged liner and thin, dark brows, Brigitte was the 60s bombshell. Decades later, we’re still copying her signature look.
Marilyn Monroe
Paving the way for many blonde-haired, dark-browed beauties to come, Marilyn was a contrasting beauty like no other. Be bold like Ms Monroe and amp up the volume of your tresses, thicken your lashes and add a touch of old Hollywood glam with a beauty spot.
Diane Kruger
Diane is living proof this look doesn’t have to be dramatic. She draws all attention to those baby blues with the help of subtly darkened brows and a soft, face-framing cut.
Edie Sedgwick
Edie’s 60s beauty look was a mismatch made in heaven. With super exaggerated brows juxtaposing a short blonde crop and darker roots, Edie was a true trendsetter. And we dig it to this day.
Gwen Stefani
Who says bold can’t be timeless? Gwen’s rocked this look for more than a decade. Hey, if it ain’t broke...
Anne Hathaway
Nobody’s ever made platinum hair and dark, structured brows look so damn good.
Scarlett Johansson
While she’s sporting a more androgynous ‘do these days, we’ll never forget Scarlett’s long, blonde glory days. Either way, she’s a knockout!
Agyness Deyn
Talk about contrast! Aggie’s white-as-snow strands take her brows into serious overdrive. Total model magic.
Clemence Poesy
The French do it so well, don’t they? Understated and chic, Clemence is the epitome of cool thanks to her subtly mismatched mane and brows.

Kate Upton
Only Kate could make sandy blonde hair and dark brows look sweet, youthful, fun, flirty, sexy, feminine and graceful all in one. Jealous, us? Never.

There is no way I could pull off that look. I like my brunette locks, and my dark eyebrows. And the fact that my hair is fairly low maintenance.

I love a good brow, doesn't matter if one is blond or red or dark. But it does look good on all the celebs!

All of these celebs look great with blonde hair and darker brows. I am not a fan when the brows are way to dark compared to hair.

I saw an interview Gwen Stefani gave recently about how much effort her blonde is and how it has defined her and now she is a slave to it because it's her signature look. Extreme blonde like that would be a nightmare to maintain.

Lightening hair is more toil than vice vera.

You can't half tell it's not natural. Still lucky they all can carry it off ok.

I'm not a fan of the extreme versions of this look e.g. Rita Ora.
