The anti-ageing hue to switch to

One of the biggest mistakes women make as they start to age is sticking with the same hair and make-up products they’ve always used.
As you age everything changes, which means that the products you use have to change, too. More importantly, the shades that you use need to be slightly altered in order to help you age naturally and gracefully.
So what should you be doing if you want to look more youthful? The trick is to swap to more subtle hues as these will help to soften your features and keep you looking naturally beautiful. Brown is one colour that can definitely do this; here’s how you can use it to enhance your look…
#1: Switch to a glossy brunette hue
Katie Holmes is about to turn 35 years old – and while that may not sound old, she (like many other women) wants to look as radiant and youthful as possible. And Katie knows that a glossy brown is the perfect hair hue for the maturing woman as it’s not as harsh as dark reds, blue-blacks or black hair colours that many women can’t let go of. To get the same look, try Schwarzkopf Oleo Intense in Sweet Brown Warm Copper. You’ll love it because it provides incredible, glossy colour thanks to pure activating oils and zero ammonia. Better still, the nourishing, non-drip oil-in-cream is formulated with marula, apricot kernel and castor oils to ensure your hair is left soft, glossy and strong! Plus, it covers greys – yippee!
#2: Soften your eye make-up
Though jet-black liner is definitely show stopping, it has a ‘severe’ effect on ageing skin and can make your eyes appear smaller and more closed (proved by Cameron Diaz in the pic above). This is obviously the opposite to what we all want, so it makes sense to opt for something lighter and more natural looking in the mascara and eyeliner stakes. A brown kohl pencil or mascara will give your eyes the definition and fluttery result that you’re after without taking all of the attention away from your features. See Cam, you definitely should have gone for a brown liner.
#3: Look for a lighter lip colour
Sandra Bullock knows what’s what. She’s got the glossy brunette locks, the bronze eye make-up and the natural lip colour going – and doesn’t she look sensational? A deeper lip colour wouldn’t have worked as well with this look, as it would have detracted from her radiant skin, shiny hair and beautiful make-up. It would have made her look too harsh, too – whereas the browny-nude colour she’s chosen for her lips features just a hint of pink that warms up her face immensely, while still looking natural. Well done Sandra, top marks!

Sandra and Katie have done it nicely to suit their style, I notice I have to choose carefully of what colours I am using in my makeup lips and eyes especially. Blonde highlights are the way I get my blonde fix, not just any blond hue one that doesn't throw too much gold tinge

I think Sandra looks great. I've always been fond of luscious rich brown hair (looks glossy and healthy) and when it comes to eye makeup, less is more.

I like the way Sandra Bullock looks and I need to and do wear a lighter lip colour, or I go without. But I think that i should use a lighter lip colour more often than i do, so that my lips do look like they are there.

I do agree that Cam's black eye-liner looks a bit harsh on her.

I do like a nice straight brown, reds can look quite aweful on me these days.

I've been opting much more for my brown or the black-brown colour mascara as it works better with my natural blonde hair and looks much more natural and soft than straight black. Still, sometimes black is called for when a stronger, night-time or if I just want a more out-there glamour look.

I am not sure I would follow all these tips. Lighter lip colours are not that flattering on me, even as I am getting older.
