Emily Blunt, you truly are a ravishing lady. In fact, as a fair-skinned lass myself, I’ve always admired your ability to make luminous alabaster skin and rich chocolate strands look like the ultimate beauty combo. Add sparkling blue eyes to that signature style of yours and gosh, you certainly make for one pretty picture, don’t you? It’s OK, you’re allowed to agree…
But now you’re jumping ship – hair colour ship. I know, I know – it’s for a movie you’re working on (All You Need Is Kill better be worth it, EB…), but I still feel there are a few things I need to get off my chest about this not-so-subtle change. I bat for Team Brunette Emily Blunt, so it’s best we have this chat now before things get messy.
Firstly, you’ve got fair skin. Exceptionally fair skin. And this makes for a tricky platform when going blonde. Why? Well, lighter strands can make your skin look lacklustre, and cause your striking features to disappear into the background. That’s why I’m outrageously glad you opted to enhance your eyes with a shimmery taupe eyeshadow (ck one eyeshadow quad in nymphete, to be exact) and mascara, while also breathing life into your cheeks with a wonderful peachy bronze blush. (I know you used ck one cream + powder bronzer in lightly golden 200, actually. Fabulous choice.) This family of golden bronze hues is perfect for you as these colours help warm up your complexion, so please keep wearing them. Same goes for the subtle tan. Please maintain that healthy glow – it complements your lightened strands superbly.
Secondly, you deserve a pat on the back for paying such great attention to your brows. It’s not your style to go Gwen Stefani and rock platinum locks with brunette brows, so you’ve lightened them slightly, but kept them two shades darker than your locks. WELL DONE. Doing so helps to frame your face and highlight those blue peepers of yours.
And thirdly, I’m so glad you’ve clearly decided to consult a hair colour professional. You’ve got the cash to do so, obviously, but it’s just so important to call in the big guns when making such a drastic change. Someone who knows exactly what they’re doing will take you from brunette to blonde in gradual steps, keeping the transition as natural as possible, while also treating your hair with care. I’m assuming a clever lady such as yourself also took imagery to the salon for inspiration? Good move. Providing your colourist with your desired hair colour examples gives them something to work with, and means you’re less likely to leave the salon in tears. Smart one, Em.
Anyway, I guess it’s about time I took my bossy boots off. I apologise if I’ve come across a little preachy, Emily Blunt; I just think you’re gorgeous, that’s all. Or, simply put, I always want you to look your beautiful best. And if you’re going to be rocking this blonde ‘do for some months to come, I assumed you’d be open to a wise beauty tip or two…
