Winter beauty switches we’re making this season

We’re more than a month into winter and I’m already sick of hearing people whinge about the chill in the air. Yes it’s cold, it’s annoying to remember to layer and rain sucks, but there are lots of great things about winter. Hot coffees, fireplaces and an excuse to cancel on any social plans due to the forecast – I fail to see the bad here!

But my favourite thing about winter is changing up my beauty products. There’s nothing like switching into a fresh routine for the new season, especially when the weather means you can spend more time indoors pampering. I also love that the cooler weather gives me an opportunity to get all nosey with other people’s beauty routines to find out how they survive the chill.

And because I’m nosey, I thought you might be too – so here’s the winter product switches the beautyheaven team are making this season.

bh’s Kate: Pureology Strength Cure Restorative Masque

“I go through phases with hair masks. Sometimes I’m religious about them, slathering my strands with one before each wash, then sometimes I just leave it to do its thing for months on end. But when the temperature dips in winter, I start to notice my ends getting drier than ever and immediately jump back on the weekly hair mask train.

But rather than the hydrating mask I go for in summer, in winter I switch to a restorative hair treatment. This season I’m loving the Pureology Strength Cure Restorative Masque. It’s excellent for my dry ends, which can get quite damaged and prone to breakage in winter. It’s also really easy to use and doesn’t leave my hair feeling heavy or greasy after I wash it out, which a lot of repairing masks tend to do.

I chuck it on after I’ve washed my hair (usually once or twice per week) when its damp and  leave it in for around 5 minutes while I shave my legs or scrub off my fake tan. Then I just rinse it out, dry it off and BAM! My hair is taken care of.”

bh’s Nadine: The Body Shop Body Yogurt

“I have absolutely loved this yogurt since it first arrived in the office. When I started using The Body Shop’s new Body Yogurt in British Rose, I was super surprised at how fast absorbing it is! That’s something that I’ve never really had in a moisturiser before.

The yogurt is also so light and it doesn’t feel like there is anything is on my skin after it has been rubbed in, so I can slip straight into my skinny jeans after applying! It is also 100% vegan and absolutely anything cruelty-free is a bonus in my books. Definitely a must for the winter months!”

bh’s Laura: Pantene Pro-V Foam Conditioner Volume & Body

“As I am ‘blessed’ with having fine hair, I tend to shy away from using any conditioner to avoid it becoming greasy too quickly. However, I am starting to find that my hair is becoming much drier, especially as we come into the winter season so I was really excited to be able to try the Pantene Pro-V Foam Conditioner Volume & Body.

It promised to condition my hair without weighing it down – and it will actually lift and give my hair more volume which is excellent in my book! The conditioner comes in an aluminium bottle with a pump-type nozzle. After washing my hair with shampoo, I squirted a palm-sized amount of the foam and applied it all of my hair, even on the roots! It felt airy and light in my hand and, after leaving it on to absorb, I washed it out.

My hair felt soft and clean right after the first use and over time, I noticed my hair looked much healthier. I will be continuing to use this gem.”
