Inside the male mind: classy updo v natural waves
Men are somewhat strange creatures. They find running around on a field with a bunch of men chasing after a ball high-quality entertainment, believe sitting on a boat for hours on end with a fishing rod in their hands exciting, and consider using a plastic remote controller to blow-up virtual villains relaxing. ‘nuff said.
But what do you they think when it comes to hair? Or, more specifically, what do they think of how we ladies style our own hair? Do they like it up? Do they like it down? Do they like messy? Do they like it perfect? Because we had absolutely no idea, we made it our mission to find out…
THE CLASSY UPDO
THE NATURALLY TEXTURE WAVES
THE BOYS’ VERDICT
“I prefer the natural look. In today’s work place it helps take the edge off the corporate hustle and bustle with a more relaxed appearance. Coupled with a pretty face and a smile, the natural, wavy look will get my vote every time.” – Guy
“I definitely prefer the updo… Makes her look a lot more attractive. The other one hides her face a lot more, which doesn't really do her justice!” – David
“I’d go with open hair because it looks natural, feminine and even a bit wild and outgoing. I also like it because the bottom of the hair is curly – I noticed that on a celebrity the other day who had straight on the top and curly on the bottom and I loved it! The other look is more mature and elegant, and perfectly wearable for an event such as the races.” – Dan
“The up-do one because the other one looks like she just got out of bed…” – Charles
“I like the first one with her hair down. To me, it just makes her seem a little more laid back and warm and welcoming, where as the other hairstyle is more professional and serious.” – Zach
“I have to say hair down... I prefer the natural look rather than hair in a funny bun/donut thingy.” – Jason
“I like it up. It looks healthier and a bit more stylish, plus there's that element of ‘I wonder what it looks like down’.” – Ben
“I think they are probably suitable for different situations. I think if I was going out on a date with a girl and she’d gone to all the effort of the second hairstyle I’d think she might be a bit high maintenance; it would feel too formal. But for a wedding or something like that I think it looks nice.” – Alex
Thanks boys! Love your responses. Oh, and it seems as though the textured, wavy style has just edged out the updo and come up trumps. If I’m honest, I’m not too surprised – boys always seem to love a carefree, natural looking ‘do for everyday wear.
TOP STYLING TIPS
Want to recreate these styles at home? When it comes to the updo, always wash your hair the night before. Your hair will have a little more grit to it if you do, which means it’ll stay-put for longer. Also, spritz a little hairspray onto your bobby pins before inserting then into your strands for extra staying power. Nifty, huh? And in terms of the flowing waves, go easy on the salt spray so your strands don’t end up too crispy, and use a shine and movement-inducing shampoo and conditioner like Palmolive Naturals Intensive Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner to keep your locks glossy and lightweight.
Which hairstyle do you prefer? Natural and wavy? Or the classy updo? And how does your man prefer your hair to be styled?
