The cost of looking this good…

The cost of looking this good…

I initially baulked when reading that UK WAG Cheryl Cole reportedly spends over $200,000 ‘just’ to look good. I say ‘just’ as some of us place more importance than others on looking good. I’d say, given the name of this website, that you all fall into the “more importance” pile along with myself.

Dubbed a “brunette Barbie” by UK Grazia, it has been reported in the past that maintaining her footballer’s wife looks costs a cool £100,000 per annum, however UK newspaper The Daily Mail did a little more digging and came out with a £250,000 ($500,000) price tag.

Her hair and make-up artist Lisa Laudat is thought to command a fee of £40,000 for making her look tip-top for her Australian Idol-esque TV gig, The X Factor. She’s also worn an invisible brace in the past and uses regular teeth whitening treatments to get the Hollywood gleam – not exactly cheap.

Then there are top fashion stylists Victoria Adcock and Frank Strachan, who she reportedly pays £45,000 (nearly $100,000) per year. And let’s not forget those costly hair extensions and gruelling gym routines. You can see where it all adds up.

But is it unreasonable? I mean, any reasonable person would immediately say yes. But think about your routine. I have my hair cut (at $120 a pop) every six weeks, that’s already over $1,000 a year, eek! Then there’s my gym membership, $650 per year but add on just one personal training session per week, and that’s a whopping $4,160. I’ve only technically had four sessions, but still. Then there are the clothes – don’t even get me started on the clothes. Sure I don’t have a personal stylist, but I can easily drop my entire month’s wage in a matter of hours – not a skill I put on my CV.

Add on monthly waxing, must-have make-up purchases, a love for fragrances and I can see that Cheryl’s not the only brunette Barbie around town…

What do you think or her beauty bill? How much do you spend on average per year?
