To be honest, like with most things, you get what you paid for. The majority of the supermarket brands use silicone in their products to make the hair smooth and silky, and it works by putting a coating on your hair to make it feel that way. However in reality it`s not really doing anything great for your hair as it is not actually penetrating the hair, and you`ll find you get a lot of build up on your hair because of it. It`s even more important if you colour your hair to use better products, as the coating of silicone from the cheap stuff can actually hamper the colouring (it happened to me), as the colour can come out uneven as it can`t get through the coating of silicone. But if you don`t colour your hair I don`t really see the harm – other than the build up factor but I guess if you use a clarifying shampoo regularly that would fix it?
