Best high-end hair dryer: Dyson Supersonic

We say: One hair dryer that’s always on the wish list but costs a pretty penny is the Dyson Supersonic. It’s sleek, lightweight, fast-drying and (let’s be honest) pretty to look at. But what really sets it apart from the others is the Dyson intelligent heat control, which keeps temperature regulated to avoid heat damage and protect your shine. Plus, it’s built with quality materials that will last you yonks and the attachment options are endless. It’s one of the best for sure, and it’s priced as such.

Best under $300: ghd helios

We say: With a 5/5 star rating, our members certainly consider the ghd helios one of the best hair dryers in Australia. It features an ergonomic design that makes it excellent for speedy, everyday use, with powerful airflow and a cool shot button to set your style. Another often underrated feature? It has a long cord for more convenient use.

You say: “The hairdryer is very powerful, I usually only have it on the low setting and that is more than sufficient. I was amazed at how quickly it dried my hair and my hair feels healthy and strong. It has a cool shot button that you can use to set your hair, but the air flow is really strong so I prefer to use it on the lowest temperature to set instead. The hairdryer looks good and is easy to use. I couldn’t recommend it more.” – EllishaLeen

Best under $200: Remington PROLuxe Digital Salon Hair Dryer

We say: Remington has a string of good quality hair dryers for less than $200, but this one sits at the top. It’s the lightest and quietest in the range, but still features a powerful motor for good airflow and a lasting motor life. It also features ionic conditioning technology to help reduce frizz.

You say: “Upon delivery of the Remington Proluxe Hair Dryer I thought the product wasn’t included in the box – it was that light! Without doubt this is the lightest hair dryer I’ve ever used. And it comes with two styling tools. Black with rose gold trimmings it looks quite nice and of quality, my first Remington product. It feels nice and light in my hand, after a wrist injury something light but strong is exactly what I’m after. Would recommend this for the elderly too.” – Anastasiastarz

Best under $100: VS Sassoon Hydro Smooth Fast Dry – VSD5573A

We say: Made specifically for coloured, hard-to-manage and dry manes, this VS Sassoon hair dryer tries its hardest to blow-dry without stripping away much-needed moisture from the hair. It features plasma conditioning ions, a proven technology to help produce healthier, glossier results.

You say: “I really didn’t think a hair dryer could make as much difference as this has to my hair. I really didn’t. But this hair dryer was made for my type of hair and hair problems. I’m used to using a hair dryer with a lot of pressure. Like strong air flow. This VS Sassoon hair dryer is a more relaxed air flow but that being said it dries my hair faster but I also achieve a far better outcome with its technology.” – BiancaDaily

  1. I use GHD one. Yup, veeeery powerful! I never ever use it on hot setting. It is the quickest drier on the market and have tried many. Dyson just looks pretty. Though adore corrale device. It is so darn good!

  2. Looking for new hair dryer good to know a bit about the different brands and models, I had a Remington, have had it for a very long time so thinking I might get another Remington.

  3. I have two hair dryers. A VS Sassoon (not the one pictured but it was about the same price – made in Italy) and a GHD. Both are fantastic.
There is a huge difference in the quality of a $20-50 hair dryer and a +$100 one (even if they are from the same brand). I got rid of my cheap one the moment I got my more expensive VS Sassoon, there was no way I was going back.
