Five of the best Logie Awards beauty trends

Just quietly, Australian ladies know how to work a red carpet. I mean, I couldn’t find one single hair, make-up or outfit shocker while scouring through the images from the 2013 Logie Awards. (OK, so maybe there was one. And that lone soldier was you, Brynne Edelsten.)

From delightful fitted frocks and glowing complexions to outstanding updos and natural-looking sun-kissed skin, our local television industry did us proud. But which trends were the best? And who was responsible for wearing said exceptional beauty looks? These ladies, actually…

THE LOGIES BEAUTY TREND: intricate updos
AS SEEN ON: Rhiannon Fish and Samara Weaving
These two Home and Away stunners both clearly nailed their ruby rug updos, but they are worlds apart in terms of style. Rhiannon’s is edgy and a little bit tough, while Samara’s is soft, piecey and outrageously feminine. However, both would’ve armed themselves with dry shampoo for extra volume and grip, and a handful or two of bobby pins to keep their handiwork in place.

THE LOGIES BEAUTY TREND: glowing, luminous skin
AS SEEN ON: Asher Keddie and Kerri-Anne Kennerley
Just quietly, I’m so glad Asher won the gold gong. She’s an exceptional actress, and looks like someone I could be friends with. (Read: lovely, down-to-earth and delightfully bubbly.) But anyway… These ladies both have outstanding luminous skin. It’s glowy, youthful and fresh, and wonderfully appealing. I don’t know how Ms Kennerley has pulled it off because at 59 years of age, maintaining glowy skin is a tough gig. (A radiance-enhancing serum, primer and foundation would likely do the trick, though.)

THE LOGIES BEAUTY TREND: volumised updos
AS SEEN ON: Jennifer Hawkins and Rebecca Judd
Jen’s opted for a full-bodied bun, and Bec has gone with a volumised ponytail, however, both are modern and utterly wearable. To copy, make sure you apply dry shampoo to day-old hair (so your ‘do will have some grit and hold-ability), and tease your roots at the crown using a tail comb for extra height that’ll stay-put.

THE LOGIES BEAUTY TREND: neutral lips
AS SEEN ON: Kate Ritchie and Rebecca Gibney
To ever so slightly dress up their lips while still keeping all the attention on their eyes, these two loveable faces opted for nude glossy lips. It’s the perfect pairing for Kate’s emerald green lined eyes, and keeps Rebecca’s skin looking luminous and full of life without her having to wear too much make-up. We love ModelCo LIP LIGHTS ULTRA SHINE GLOSS in Sheer Pearl, Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss in Nude and ARTISTRY Lip Gloss in Pink Ice when it comes to creating a neutral lip look.

THE LOGIES BEAUTY TREND: shiny, flowing blonde locks
AS SEEN ON: Laura Dundovic and Sonia Kruger
Blondes have a hard time getting shiny, glossy locks. Well, they usually do. Laura’s newly-light strands are impossibly healthy and shiny, and Sonia’s side-swept waves are superbly bouncy and radiant. I’m guessing they’ve both employed specially-formulated blonde shampoos and treatments to help maintain their hue and keep their hair in optimum condition. Try bhave Bombshell Blonde shampoo or nak care blonde shampoo if you’re a blonde who’s after extra shine.

Which Logies beauty trend do you like best? Would you recreate any of these Aussie beauties’ hair and make-up looks? And are you happy Ashy Keddie won the gold Logie, too?
