Feel beautiful

Feel beautiful

Our recent ‘Perfume preference’ poll showed that over 50% of respondents like to be sprayed with their favourite scent daily, while others want never to be far from their preferred perfume, applying multiple times throughout the day.

What does this tell us? We like to smell beautiful and what with it being the festive season – a time of goodwill and giving – there is no better time to splash out on a new scent or an old classic, whether it’s for you or your loved one. [We’ll leave that up to you as only you know how well behaved you’ve been this year!]

When it comes to classic fragrances, it’s no surprise that Beautiful is Estée Lauder’s number one scent. Lauder herself said: “part of the mystery and magic [of Beautiful] is that the fragrance named itself. Whenever I sprayed it on someone, she would say ‘Beautiful’.”

The Beautiful masterpiece is a mélange of more than 2000 flowers in 19 varieties incorporating citrus, warm and woody notes. Amongst the most regarded florals are Bulgarian rose, jasmine sourced from Morocco and Egypt, carnation from France as well as tuberose and orange flower.

Garden goddesses thyme and sage rest in the middle while the long-lasting notes are those of Sri Lankan vetiver, patchouli, oakmoss and myrrh (very fitting for Christmas).

Creating a fragrance is no easy feat: Lauder worked on Beautiful for four years before handing its sleek-structured flacon over for females worldwide to fawn over.
Of the finished fragrance lauder says, “It’s a tribute to vitality, to a youthful anticipation… to hopeful beginnings. In short, it’s simply Beautiful.”

And it is for this very reason that I will be leaving a trail of Estée Lauder Beautiful behind me this silly season – hoping (praying) it will being happy and vivacious new beginnings in 2010.

Ahh, a girl can dream can’t she?
