First things first, all deodorants are aluminium-free. Yep, really. ‘Aluminium’ refers to the chemical agent that reduces perspiration and sweating. And while we use ‘deodorant’ as an umbrella term for all underarm body-odour inhibiting products, this isn’t actually the case.
Deodorants specifically refer to products that use a fragrance to mask the scent of sweat, while antiperspirants are the ones that contain aluminium to stop or limit the production of body odour by clogging the pores.
Nevertheless, we’ve all got enough on our plates at the moment, so correctly identifying your deodorants from your antiperspirants isn’t ranking terribly high on the priority list.
