With lead notes of hysteria, a heart of sparkling Moet (I suppose that should be Rosemount this year) mixed with hairspray, and a heady base of glamour, impending Australian Fashion Week is already in the air. So the Australian launch of the signature fragrance from New York’s Badgley Mischka is right on cue.

‘It’ designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka asked Firmenich perfumer Richard Herpin to compose the scent. Their direction: distill the romance and glamour of 1940s Hollywood into a bottle. The result: a rich floral fragrance that is as elegant, enchanting and showstoppingly chic as the label’s coveted frockery.

The show opens with red wild berries, fresh pickled peach and crème be cassis interlaced with a heart of white peony, rare osmanthus flower and jasmine. Then silky suede musks, Indian patchouli and caramel amber linger lusciously on your wrist for hours. It’s luxurious, it’s sophisticated and the bottle is definitely one you’ll want to add to your wardrobe.

Badgley Mischka is also ‘aspirational’, as fashion types would put it. The classic parfum will set you back $355 for 30mL. But what did you expect for couture?
