Point Racking
Hi all 🙂 So I’m pretty new here (joined yesterday..) and the main purpose I had for joining was to finally give my thoughts on all the beauty products I’ve tried – it was either this or start a beauty blog – so naturally there are sooo many products I want to review! But I couldn’t help noticing a friendly warning about ‘point racking’, what does that include? Will posting too many reviews get me banned??

Hi @Team bh, I have posted a reply but it is not showing at this time. I appreciate your swift response but I did not pass personal judgment on anyone, including yourself (not really possible seeing as I do not know who is even behind the avatar and can only presume you speak on behalf of BH). I respectfully think you have missed my point but will also take the inference that I could have expressed myself in a kinder manner. I am merely saying it would give us a lot of assurance if we understood how reviews are considered before publication, including truthfully if there is even a review of the reviews, because everything suggests that is not the case or has not been for some time, and several members have raised countless examples on the forums. Please understand a lot of us are long time members and we have poured years (in some cases, over a decade) into the collective review pool. I speak not only in terms of duration but also energy into contributing the reviews. It is extremely disheartening for us to see poorly written reviews published with little scrutiny.

Hi @Ethelinde, thanks so much for your reply and clarification. We completely understand where you and other members are coming from as we acknowledge the huge amount of time and effort it takes to write many in-depth reviews. We are sorry for the frustration as that is definitely not what we want our members to feel coming on bh. Please know we appreciate each and every one of those reviews, as well as the time you and our long-standing members have spent here. It truly wouldn’t be a bh community without you all!
To confirm, we have a process in place for any adverse and low star rating reviews to be flagged. With many reviews being submitted on a daily basis, non-adverse and low star rating reviews are checked briefly and rejected where required. In saying this, we have taken your feedback on board and will check each of these more thoroughly.
We only wanted to remind everyone to please take a kind approach to any matters on site, especially regarding other members. Also a small reminder that there is energy being poured from all sides to keep bh thriving for everyone! x

Hi Beauties! We hope you had a lovely Easter long weekend!
Thank you @BiancaDaily for bringing this to our attention. We have reviewed your concern and have personally reached out to this member, kindly sharing our Community Guidelines with them, specifically about duplicating reviews. As you can see in the member’s profile, they have only just joined bh last month and it is a very understandable mistake to make as a new member.
Although “point racking” may be frustrating to see and we understand completing the 500 character limit can be challenging at times, we would like to remind you all to please lead with kindness. Online communities should be fun, friendly, informative, and appropriate for everyone. There is a person behind every avatar (just like myself behind this Team bh avatar).
@Ethelinde we value integrity just as much as we value kindness and the person behind each and every one of our member avatars!Lastly, as per our Community Guidelines: “Please leave all judgements at the virtual door.” life is just too short to be unhappy and judgemental of others – let’s lift each other up instead 🙂
Thank you Beauties. x

Thank you. It’s the same review – copy and pasted. Only difference is that she’s put 3 years warranty on one review and 5 years on the other one which was all written in the product description.

I just mean some of her older reviews aren’t. I think it would be unfair to be penalised for those. That’s all. My 2 cents. Sometimes it’s really hard to write 150 words lol. I struggled recently with a deodorant review …what do you want me to say .
I think you should be penalised for those individual ones. And she’s not the only one. Bh shoild take some ownership of published. They published crappy reviews. There’s a few reviews that are I’d like to try this
The member you are talking about is on the forum so hopefully just a friendly reminder would be nice just fixs it. Maybe I’m too kind lol -

I would like BH to honestly weigh in on this issue. It is not our place to police the quality of reviews or other members’ behaviour. This is my position now anyway after several attempts of my own to raise issues without success.
It is up to them if they want to populate their database with reviews with no substance and clutter the forum with drivel. I am sure it would drive the brands crazy and for all we know, some have left for this reason. I certainly would have if I were a business contemplating listing with BH and word of mouth also spreads amongst business owners.
There is next to no scrutiny of the reviews published. They are still publishing reviews that have no content but a rating based on stars – that alone tells me no one is at the helms checking any of the reviews, and if there is someone, frankly I don’t know what they are doing then.
I am sure there is some weighing here in terms of encouraging reviews against the quality of reviews, and I am also personally loathe to amend other people’s work but it is equally frustrating on this end to have put in so much time and energy into our own reviews only to watch others make a complete mockery of the entire process and still reap the same rewards and more.
I value integrity but up to you, BH.

Respectfully, I don’t appreciate your innuendo comment right at the end. It was just my opinion and others agreed.

Are you talking to me @BiancaDaily? I didn’t reference you specifically in my comment at all. I typed BH, not BD by the way if that is where you think I have referenced you. I am imploring to BH.

Hi bianca. Please don’t take my comment as personal. It was not directed to you or anyone. It was just a comment as in maybe I’m not firm enough with the point ranking as I felt that the person could just be kindly reminded. It was nothing to do with you. Sorry you feel it was personal. Thanks bh. We will leave it to you which we should.

I have reported @Jeena Mathew for points racking because she does the same review for different products from the same brand. It’s just a copy and paste!

You’re right, @BiancaDaily. I went through the first couple of pages of her reviews. I reported her, too.

My comment disappeared, so I’ll try in separate posts.
Before the site revamp, we earned 2 points for posting on the forum – capped at 100 points. Regular forumites with thousands of forum posts would no longer earn points.
After last year’s revamp, our points caps all reset to 0, so I earned 2 points for my next 50 forum posts, then hit my 100 points cap again. Bh did away with this a few months ago – nobody earns points for commenting on the forum anymore.

try no. 6
You are doing a wonderful job monitoring the forums @Ethelinde as Bh has ‘dropped the ball’ on this task!
Just want to let you know you are very much appreciated and I appreciate your time consuming efforts in posting – that in itself is almost impossible!BIG THANK YOU! Ethelinde 🙂
