removing contact lenses

i recently started using contacts and i find it really difficult to take them out.
my optometrist told me i should just “slide” them out of my eye but that causes the rim of my eye to become red and hurt. my friends tell me to pinch them out and i was wondering if it would be better to use sterilised tweezers to do this or to just use my fingers.

I have worn glasses all my life, and when I first tried lenses, it was wonderful. Until I had to take them off. I am very afraid of hurting myself, even if I don`t have long nails. As a result, I cry every time I have to take them off, it`s so stressful. I know that there are lenses you can keep on overnight.

Wah I just got contacts too and struggle getting them out! I can`t do it, can`t get the Pinching right.

i just pinch them right out, no sliding or moving them around. Wash your hands and keep nails short – for two reasons one you will poke your eye, and two there is alot of bacteria under your nails, so keep the infection at bay !

I`ve had laser surgery, but I remember spending a whole hour trying to take my contacts out after my test run on the very first day after I got home from the optometrist. After getting the hang of putting my fingers near my eye without blinking and pinching (make sure you have short fingernails!) I could do it without thinking and without a mirror.

    It gets easier, I promise.

I find that my contact lenses are harder to remove when my eyes are dry, so what I do is put a few drops of eye solution and it helps them come out easier and not be so stuck to your eyes.
    Hope that helps

slide the lense to the white bit of your eye because the white of the eyes if much stronger than the pupil and iris, and then pinch out, remember to hold you lashes up so they dont get in the way so you wont pull your lashes.

    Tweezers sound scary!
I started wearing contacts about 3-4 months ago and my optometrist was impressed by how quickly I learned. Didn`t take me long but I had a good optometrist. Really made me feel calm.
What I do to get my contacts out is slide the contacts down and pinch them out at the bottom end. It doesn`t hurt when you touch the whites of your eye but it definitely does when you touch the coloured part!
Make sure you wash your hands and all that jazz to avoid eye infections. =]

I use my middle finger to slide it to the outer corner and pinch it. When I first statred wearing contacts I found it very hard to take them out and use to get very red and irritated. Practice makes perfect. Now I get them in and out in seconds.

I move the contact lens to the outer corner of my eye and use my thumb and fore finger to “”pinch”” it out. It gets easier with time and you`ll know which technique is best for you.

    Definitely, do not use tweezers!
