Best eye drops for dry, red eyes?

Steer clear of decongesting eye drops, as like decongestant nasal sprays etc they should only be used for a few days as they can cause rebound congestion (redness). Eye drops are good only for a month once opened except for the systane ultra I believe which is 6 months. you could also use the individual vials that come in a lot of eye drop brands that are preservative free and great for sensitive eyes. The convenience in that option is I guess they are small and very portable and disposable after single use.

Our brilliant eye specialist recommends Systane too – we use the Systane Ultra lubricating eye drops.

You are right and I believe the new systane ultra is good for 6 months after opening if I’m not wrong.

I suffer from dry eye and red itchy eyes from hayfever and my chemist recommended: VISINE eye drops- allergy with antihistamine. Clears and Relieves Itchy, Red Allergy eyes.

It works really well and was only 6 dollars.

There are other products in the range too.

I think Gulabary is the best eye drop.

Can i use this Systane if my eyes strains from computer use? do you think a lamp would help when ever im infront of my PC? im suspecting my light is not enough..

My optomotrist recommended Systane for my dry eyes. My Doc also recommended Systane without me mentioning that this was what my optomotrist had recommended. Eye drops like Visine, Clear eyes etc etc are only good for short term. Use them regularly & they will make your eyes red. Systane you can use anytime you get sore dry eyes with no bad side effects. They are cheaper than visine as well

I’d ask a chemist. Some are better for long term use than others.

Just to put this out there, Visine is a vasoconstrictor andit might start constricting the blood vessels in your eyes on top of your dry eyes.
