Your Moisturiser and You

hello ladies!
This is a thread about the M-m-m-m-moisturiser that so many of us are in doubt about.. What kind of moisturizer should i buy ? Which ones best value for money? Is it good for sensitive skin? I thought it’d be fun to see what people use, and if they want to try something else, or any general comments/questions about moistuiser
So lets start by asking these key question.
1.Do you moisturise? If so, why?
2. How many times a day do you moisturise?
3. Do you have any specific skin conditions that you need your moisturizer to be aware of / take care of? (Eg dermatistis, acne, rosacea)
4. What do you look for in a moisturiser?
5. How much are you prepared to spend on your HG (holy grail) moistuiser?
6. What moisturiser brand (or specific one) can you not live without?

Oh and it would be even better if we had some kind of moisturising Blacklist/ Goodlist!

hope this helps some people find a mosituriser for themselves.

1.Do you moisturise? If so, why?

If I`m truly honest, habit. I just always have since I was in my early teens. I have read articles about whether or not people really need to unless their skin is particularly dry, and I`m curious to see if I could go without it, but I`ve never been game enough to try. And it feels nice.

    1. How many times a day do you moisturise?

    Twice – morning and night.

    1. Do you have any specific skin conditions that you need your moisturizer to be aware of / take care of?

Not especially. I get a bit sensitive if I`ve been whacking on too many different products in a short period of time, and I have a bit of redness, but nothing that can`t be dealt with by other products.

    1. What do you look for in a moisturiser?

New and shiny. Seriously, I flit from one moisturiser to the next, constantly looking for THE ONE. I have a drawer full of half-used moisturisers.

    1. How much are you prepared to spend on your HG (holy grail) moistuiser?

Whatever it cost. No, not really. I wouldn`t spend $400 for one, no matter how good it was. I`d say… $150. But it would have to be THE ONE.

    1. What moisturiser brand (or specific one) can you not live without?

The only one I continually go back to is the original Olay moisturising one (the pink one in the little bottle). It`s great for summer when you just want something light. And it`s super cheap!

As for good list/bad list, I don`t really have any that I particularly love or hate, but I do find that Clarins moisturisers are a bit “”meh”” and WAY over-priced (and I`m a total Clarins junkie), and Olay Regenerist MicroSculpting Cream is nice for a night cream (bit much for day).

Hehe i love the smell, too melmeko 🙂
It just sinks into my skin and acts like a primer, too! 🙂

I am so glad you are loving that moisturiser captain, I am really picky when it comes to sun protection therefore I am sticking to the few moisturisers with SPF that actually don`t make my face even shinier and the Invisable Zinc Tinted Daywear. I would like to still try out that City Block one day, I might hunt for a sample when I go to DJ`s in a few weeks 🙂

Hey babe, at the moment I`m using Clinique City Block Oil Free SPF 25. And no, doesn`t make me shiny at all. But I use my EDM over the top and it looks amazing.

Next on my list though is Clarins mineral sunscreen one and I`m also intrigued at the new Neutrogeana one.

Hi Hely. Just a quick question, what sunscreen do you use over your moisturiser? Does it make your skin look shiny?

1.Do you moisturise? If so, why? Yes. To hydrate my skin. I hate my skin feeling tight and dry. It also helps for easier application of your foundation (along with a primer of course!!)
    2. How many times a day do you moisturise? Two times a day. Morning and night. Sometimes more in summer depending on the weather.
Do you have any specific skin conditions that you need your moisturizer to be aware of / take care of? (Eg dermatistis, acne, rosacea)
I dont really have any skin conditions my main concern is dryness.
    4. What do you look for in a moisturiser? One that provides my skin with alot of moisture, fragnace free and something not too oily.
    5. How much are you prepared to spend on your HG (holy grail) moistuiser?
I usally give myself up to $80
    6. What moisturiser brand (or specific one) can you not live without? i love CETAPHIL moistursing lotion it is the best!! so soft and gentle. It is fragance free and is super hydrating for my skin. I also use the Cetaphil Cream at night time to give my skin that extra little treatment. I will never turn away from this product. And all for under $60 you cant go wrong.

    Damn Straight! Great thread!
    Here goes.
    1. Do you moisturise? If so, why?
Yes. To keep the flakies away and prevent looking like a shrivelled old prune!
    2. How many time a day do I moisturise?
Twice. Morning and night without fail.
    3. Do you have any specific skin conditions that you need to moisturise to be aware of/take care of?
Just my sometimes oily skin. Need to pick lotions that are lightweight yet hydrating at the same time.
    4. What do you look for in a moisturiser?
Lightweight, hydrating and one that doesn`t clog up my pores. If it`s SPF too then that`s a bonus but I usually use a separate sun protection anyway.
    5. How much are you willing to pay on your HG moisturiser?
Would never pay over $100. That`s the bench mark for me. But if it was the most amazing product that promissed skin like a porcelain statue then maybe up to $300 if it was truely mind bogglingly amazing!
    6. What moisturiser brand (or specific on) can you not live without?
I love Clarins. Great range for all issues. Plus excelent GWPs all the time. Gotta love that.

1.Do you moisturise? If so, why?
Yes. To hydrate and soothe my skin and to keep it from becoming dry.

    2. How many times a day do you moisturise?
Twice a day, after I cleanse. I only tone after shower. Sometimes during the day when my skin looks flaky, I might moisturise then.

    3. Do you have any specific skin conditions that you need your moisturizer to be aware of / take care of? (Eg dermatistis, acne, rosacea)
I`m trying to even out my skin tone as I used to have quite a few blemishes. I`m also trying to reduce the size of my pores – sometimes when it`s hot, I blush and they become very visible.

    4. What do you look for in a moisturiser?
During the day, I would like a moisturiser with SPF which preferably one that doesn`t look greasy. It should be light yet very hydrating.

    5. How much are you prepared to spend on your HG (holy grail) moistuiser?
Theoretically, from $0 to $100. I usually sample the expensive ones and find they`re too heavy so I don`t buy it. But when I do find THE one, I am prepared to splurge.

    6. What moisturiser brand (or specific one) can you not live without?
Still looking for that perfect one. But for night, I`m quite fond of HydraZen`s night cream.
