It depends on the person, I think its fine to leave after yr 10 if you have an apprentichip/job/trade to go to or you an do yr 11 and 12 at tafe I think. once your over 21 your OP doesn’t count towrds getting into uni as you can sit an IQ like exam for placement. I know I struggled with my grades at high school and ended up getting an OP of 14 or 16 (can’t remember), but highschool was terrible for me so i have mixed feelings about this subject. most of my teachers were d-bags who picked on me as I was a bit of a trouble maker in yrs 8 and 9 but thats because I was being bullied then by some little B’s, and didnt really give a crap about my grades and just coasted through high school. but when i went to uni at 20 yro I rellay enjoyed it and applied myself and studied long hours which earned me High distinctions and I have now finished honours. I stayed at school for yr 11 and 12 mainly for the social aspect. If you want to go to uni staight away I think you have to complete the HSC, or QSC or whatever its called now.

I finished after year 10 but that was a long time ago. I have encouraged all of my children to finish year 12. I think it is easier these days to get into university or get a good job if you do your HSC.

University isn’t for everyone and we have to keep in mind that you can get into your desired job/career without having to complete yr 12… But if you are, there are so many ways to get into your uni course if you don’t get the perfect ENTER (for VIC) score (or ATAR score it’s now called).
I’m in year 12 now though, and it’s the greatest year everrr…

I did yesr 12 VCAL because i knew yesr 12 would be way to hard so i started doing my ert 3 in beauty theraphy then moved up to diploma. Once you our of school for 3 years no one really cares how much ur enter score was. DO whats best for you if your wanting to do a trade then i think you should do VCAL thats helps alot and cuts off a year of the trade you would like to do

I definately recon it was worth it!! i live in Perth and i did TEE which was pretty insane, studying BUT lasting til year 12 was worth it cos youu get to finally meet eveyone, and everyone gets closer, year 12 was by far the best year, memories will live on from that year, so i recoomend staying til year 12 plus you get graduation picttures 🙂

I think it depends on how academic the person is – since there are no technical schools anymore, some kids get stuck in schools they may not be suited to, or even able to cope with. I wouldn’t recommend a person just leave school with nothing to go on to, but if they had a job to go to, an apprenticeship, or a TAFE course in a subject they were really interested in, then I would say good on them.

Its really hard when you are in yr 12 and you dont know what you want to do. I didnt want to go to uni as i was so sick of school. I started doing a Diploma in Beauty but never finished. It just wasnt for me and the teachers were just horrible. I ended up getting a job in accounting. Just started out as a junior office worker. But i definately recommend staying until yr 12.
