It depends on your workplace and the age of those you deal with. In retail you can wear most styles but if you go heavy on the eyes, go easy on the lips and vice versa but don`t go too smokey for work.

When it comes to work makeup less is definately more. Foundation, powder, little eyeliner (no smoky eyes), mascara and lippy (probably not bright red).

i think if you work in hospitality then – mascara, foundation (a little), bronzer is all you need.
i really don`t like seeing employees wearing ott makeup. its not very nice.i think you should always think about what you`d like (and wouldnt like) to see if you went to your place of work at a customer/patron/client.
I know its a little off the subject… but i really hate it when waitresses wear dangly earrings.
I would never wear dangly earrings to work (waitress)
opinions?

I think you should try to have polished makeup for retail jobs. It just looks better and more professional. But polished doesn`t mean excessive, just make sure you keep your makeup fresh and don`t have smudged eyeliner/eyeshadow. Make sure your hair is neat too, otherwise no one will be looking at your face with a `birds-nest` on your head! LOL

I worked in retail for many years and people do judge you on your appearance – its not right, but its just the way some people are. They think i you haven`t made an effort with your hair and make-up, you dont care. I like to wear at the very least mascara and gloss. I usually do a mineral foundation with concealer, blush or bronzer, and eye make-up in neutral shades with a gloss. I generally wear my hair straight and in a ponytail, cos its polished but easy.
Hope that helps!!
