What type of foundation do you use/prefer and how do you apply?

I was wondering what type of foundation you guys use everyday and how you apply it….ive found that now i dont have that much need for a great coverage (my acne and scars have faded, thanks laser!) that liquid foundation is a bit much.
I use a mousse foundation with a kabuki brush and once a few more scars fade ill go back to just mineral powder.
Ive attempted using sponges with liquid foundation but i COULD NOT get it to work for me for some reason. also i cannot seem to apply with my fingers, it never goes on nicely. For liquid i must use a stippling brush.
Any tips, tricks, suggestions? Let me know what you like to do and use! ^_^

I rotate between The Body Shop’s Moisture Foundation, Boujoris Health Mix (I love this) and Clinique Superbalanced (have used it a few times but prob won’t buy again).

I use Face of Aust Primer underneath and apply with the Manicare sponge (its purple and a dupe for the Beauty Blender)

I made the switch to BB creams around 6 months ago and have been loving them. Prior to that I wore liquid and prior to that mineral powder. I just prefer the lightness of BB creams. I find foundations just feel like I’m wearing a mask all day plus I seem to get blackheads with them whereas the BB creams do exactly what I need them to and suit my pale skin.

If I do wear a foundation I like Clinique’s Superbalanced. Other foundations go a bit patchy on my skin, but that one stays fresh. The bottle is a pain though! Rimmel’s Stay Matte is also nice.

I use a flat topped brush to apply the BB cream and it gives a really smooth finish. I’m really loving the NP Set brush that is meant for blush, but is shaped like a stippling brush. It’s really soft, doesn’t shed and is the perfect size. I’ve invested in 3 of them!

I use maybelline mineral makeup atm i have used some other all natural mineral makeups and they start to feel like clay is on ur face during the day so this one it gr8 atm for me and is buildable coverage as i need that in someareas and not so much in others I love it, it is soooo much faster at putting your makeup on also cuts the time right down which i loooovveee! 🙂

Before applying mineral makeup i wash my face and put my 3 in 1 primer by face of australia on 🙂

Previously I used Covergirl liquid/powder compact but it didn’t last long and didn’t cover very well. I have recently been using Revlon Colorstay for dry skin as it was reffered to me by a staff member at Priceline. I asked her to help me choose a foundation that will suit my skin and afer a few tries we both agreed that Revlon suited my skin best. I use a sponge and I find it quick to apply. I’m surprised how popular Revlon Colorstay is after reading all the responses.

I usually use rimmel long lasting 16 hrs and I apply it with my fingers because I can’t do it with a brush. The other one I use is revlon colourstay also applied with my fingers. In summer I use invisible zinc tinted moisturiser and apply that with my fingers too.

i am using colorstay as well, thats more on days that i dress up for going out etc, but on other days, work etc, i use IZ tinted moisturiser! love it!! i use my fingers.lol.

If you dont need a lot of coverage you could use a tinted moisturiser and concealer on areas on need greater coverage. I think the revlon colourstay is a bit too much coverage. Use a liquid foundation thats really easy to blend- that way you can use your fingers to apply it (using fingers means you use less product). You could also mix your liguid foundation with a good moisturiser to make your own tinted moisturiser

Thanks for the suggestions! i used to use revlon colorstay and now i just use it for when im going somewhere formal and dressy! Hk_candy the comment on dabbing the sponges instead of dragging was useful thankyou! i find that dabbing foundation on works better for me, thats why i tend to stipple it on and i fond it hard using my fingers. I have really oily skin and i find even now when i hardly apply any foundation, the oil still reacts with what little foundation i have on and by the end of the day my face and the foundation seem darker and i go from looking really natural in the morning to looking like ive put lots on in the arvo :/

i use the revlon colorstay because i have horrible acne scars at the moment, i found that it dries really quickly so you cant blend it with a brush, so i use my fingers to blend it working in sections of my face. i heard if you use a damp sponge it works wonderfully.

make up sponges arent as good as brushes anyway they hold a lot of bacteria.. use a brush just little strokes to avoid streaks etc!

i use a liquid foundation everyday and then use powder over the top when i go out for more coverage! but if thats too much for you why not just use a powder!
