What to wear to a wedding?

Hello Lovely Ladies

I’m sure there are a few threads floating around different forums that touch on this matter, but I’m kindof panicing and need urgent advice! Now my problem is – I’m attending a wedding this Saturday, I’d go with my partner but he is the best man, which means I have to go with my partner’s parents. Now, apart from them, the bride and groom and my partner, there is no one else I will know at this wedding! And as I haven’t been to one since I was quite young and could get away with just about anything frilly or covered in flowers, I’m stuck for what to wear/how to do my hair/what makeup look to go with. It’s a mid afternoon wedding, with cocktails straight after the ceremony, followed by the reception. The dress code is relaxed, men have been told either suits or neat casual, but there were no specifications for the women.

I was looking at a dress in Bardot today, but I would love some opinions on whether or not it will look “right”! http://www.bardot.net.au/lab/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.view_images&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=757&category_id=15&Itemid=1

Thoughts? Also, what kind of makeup should I use? And as it is going to be a long night, can someone reccomend a good primer (not to expensive!) that will go well with Mineral Powder foundation?

Thank you so much!

I reckon a formal dress will suit the occasion.. sophisticated colours are ones you should choose from 🙂

No worries FB – to save you some time you could get a spray tan?

Thanks for the advice ladies! I looked up the primer Elmo, there is a stockist in the CBD, but I don`t know if I`ll have time to make it in to get it – between now and Saturday I have to buy my dress, choose shoes to wear with it, get my nails done, spend a bit of time in the sun to even out my tan, choose a hairstyle and get a small bag to go with my dress. Argh! I think I might just get the Napoleon primer as there is a concept store on Chapel St.

I agreee, that dress is gorgeous and pretty and would really suit an afternoon wedding. I would go for fresh make up with earthy tones. As for you hair I would keep it soft and flowy nothing too dramatic.

Hi Fluffy Bunny – long time no see! Hope you`ve been well!
    .
I had a look at the dress and I think it`s really pretty! Seems like a good choice for an afternoon wedding too – as you wouldn`t want to be too formal when it`s still during the day. I would keep makeup light and fresh – and perhaps take an eyeliner with you if you want to intensify your look when it gets to night? Not sure what your hair is like so can`t help there…

As for primer – I would suggest Eles retexturising primer – I`ve had it for a while without using it, as I was using up my napoleon primer, but heard from others it was heaps better than that one, so when I went to the races on Saturday I tried it out and it`s absolutely fantastic! My makeup STAYED PUT all day – I went to touch up later that night before heading out and found I barely needed to do a thing. Having said all that, unless there`s a salon near you which stocks it (you can check on the website http://www.elescosmetics.com.au), I don`t think you`d receive it in time by post so this may be a hopeless suggestion – sorry!
