The saga is OVER.

I received EL’s Sensous sample & makeover voucher from Bh email. Just would like to let you about my experience trying to redeem it from DJ.

Personally I think Estee Lauder ladies at DJ are really tight with samples. I went with the voucher the day after I received it on email. The SA said, “Oh, it’s all gone ages ago, it is a very old voucher” then she pointed to the bottom of the email print out “see, it was from August” which was totally BS as she was reading 08/10 as 10 Aug, to which I told her that I just received it the day before and showed her the top part of the email which said that the email was sent out from beautyheaven on 8th October. She gave me a very surprised/shocked look then said to check again the following week. She didn’t even offer the free makeover. I think she didn’t even noticed the word “makeover” on the voucher. I didn’t mention it as she already put me off.

So I tried again last week when I saw another SA on the counter. This one responded, “It went ever so quickly we don’t have any left”. Again, she didn’t offer to do the free makeover. She didn’t even check to see whether they have any sample available. I was so cheezed off and vowed to myself not to EVER go to that counter again. I was actually thinking of buying the parfume & the blockbuster set if they were polite enough to give me the sample. So they have forever lost my business, the next time I’ll spend my money at other place that gives me good customer service instead. Off to the bin the BH voucher went.

I don’t get it why they’re being ridiculous with their excuses. It’s the company’s own stock and not the SA’s own personal wealth for goodness sake.

Personally I think it’s not good for their business if companies are offering something that they can’t (or don’t intend to) fulfil. To me it’s a scam designed to con people into entering the shop. In my case it has backfired big time as it really puts me off buying any EL stuff at DJ.

Is there any way for Bh to let those companies know about this? I think it’s not good for Bh’s reputation also if their voucher is branded as old and invalid.

P.S. I’m not the only one with this experience, I know at least 2 other ladies (you know who you are) were treated badly as well when they tried to redeem the same Bh voucher in other part of OZ. The SA told them “there wasn’t any”, but after some “threats” the samples appeared magically. No makeovers being offered whatsoever.

Generally I haven`t had the same experience with samples yet, staff generally is helpful. But some of them do give you an annoyed look.

    good for you music ??

  • I`m glad the saga is over with music. It`s a shame there was any saga to begin with but I guess there was some pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Hopefully customer service reps change their way towards customers. Not all customer service reps are bad though and some to provide exceptional service but there are some who are a little disappointing. well done music 🙂

I received the Sensuous in the post. End of the saga.

I`m still going to boycott places that don`t give me good service for paying good money.

Thanks everyone, been good hearing what everyone else have said. I hope others find this thread useful.

    I`m off the air now.

Good for you Music. It`s not like they were really all that sorry or they wouldn`t have taken so long to answer your emails.

I have just emailed both DJ and EL, saying thanks for the replies, but no thanks for the makeovers, once beaten twice shy. Told them that I`m taking my money somewhere else with better service and where I can feel better when spending my money.

I don`t understand why Sale Assistants give bad customer service. Isn`t it common sense that if a customer has a great service they are likely to go back to the store? Reading all the negative experiences makes me reluctant to go. =/

I agree with HMad, I feel embarassed to speak up about free samples and makeovers, lol.

Wow, reading this thread kept me very intrigued for the last 15 minutes! I was taken back to my own experience of trying to redeem the same voucher. I was a little disappointed that I got a small sample instead of the luxury size and the SA didn`t even mention the makeover… I`m always a little too embarrassed to speak up about these things as some of the time I do feel like they are sizing you up as a potential customer. The negative experiences I`ve had have also been at DJs in Parramatta NSW but not necessarily EL. Next time something like this happens I might have to try speaking up about it too! Music – take the free makeover, I`m sure they`ll be desperate to win you over so they are sure to do a good job
