The Benifits of SLEEP.

Sleep. The thing we do every night has a lot of benefits. Sleep is a heightened anabolic state, accentuating the growth and rejuvenation of the immune, nervous, skeletal and muscular systems.

Anyways, point aside, lately i have taken to my mum’s advice and chosen to sleep earlier. Since i get home around 8:30pm every night, it’s rather hard to even get to sleep by 10pm after a shower, my beauty ritual, homework and other stuff. I used to get to sleep around 1-2am (so bad D:) and HAD a lot of acne and pimples.

Since around three days before the holidays ended, i started sleeping earlier and have abandoned facebook, youtube (not really haha), tumblr and the likes. Even beautyheaven. I used to stalk this site everyday, but it’s been cut down to an occasional thing now 🙁
BUT the really awesome thing about getting my good does of beauty sleep is that my pimples are fast disappearing. People have been asking me what kind of miracle treatment am i on as my face is currently ultra clear with a few light scars (easily covered with make up and fast healing 🙂 ). Obviously that means sleep truly is extremely important for our health and i thought i’d give a shout out about it. 😉
Really really happy right now, had problems with acne since a year and a half ago and it’s all cleared up – all i had to do was change my sleeping ways. woohoo 😀
The only areas with a pimple or two are my hairline and forehead – but i have a fringe so can’t be helped. not like anyone can see it anyways 😛

ahem I am positively sure that everyone knows how important sleep is but i really extremely wanted to share with you my excitement as the effects have been incredibly great. 🙂 If you must know, it’s kind of like when you try a new product that has worked so much wonders in a short time that the urge to write a review on beautyheaven is itching at you 😀

Dayyum girl, I didn’t realise how hugely sleep affects our overall health and wellbeing. That’s it, I’m gonna do what you did. Thanks so much for sharing as I only got 6-7 hours of sleep every night and I’m 14 so I think I need more than that.

It is so true that sleep is good for you and really shows on my skin. When I get enough sleep my skin looks great, but when I haven’t been sleeping well I’ll get spots and just bad skin tone in general. Although I have to say, although I try to sleep 8 hours, it rarely happens, i normally get about 6-7 hours though. I think it’s mostly due to procrastination with work I have to do, it’s such a bad habit

I find I can never concentrate properly at school without a good 9 hours sleep. But its so hard by the time i get home from school at 3.30 and study till 10.00 with a dinner and shower break. Sometimes Im up past 11 doing study and Im half asleep at school the next day. Its so hard to fit everything in.

Will definately try to sleep more these days. Such a pain though with all these tests and assignments due 🙁

Great to hear that you are feeling and looking much better with a bit more sleep. Wish sleep would rid me of my acne 🙂
Apart from that, I love sleep and am I a great believer that sleep is one of the most important things you can do for health and well being.

I love my sleep. If I have anything less than 7 hours sleep, I feel it the next morning and struggle to get out of bed.
I start work early in the mornings so I’m up at 5am, so it’s imperative that I sleep by 9pm latest.
Sleep is so important to all of us!!

Thanks for your post Iconic. I slept 10 hours last night, I think I really needed it. It’s strange as I have just been talking about the importance of sleep with my sister and then I see your post! I do stalk this website and that’s probably why I don’t get enough sleep usually. I get a heap of blemishes as well so maybe I should give up a bit of my computering and have some more sleep. It’s great how it’s working for you.

I find a get a really restfull longer sleep with Swiss sleep tablets. They have a perfect mixture of valerian and other goodies to relax me.

I’ve also noticed that if I run low on sleep, my skin pays for it. I don’t get pimples but I get a really dull, lifeless, wan complexion. Plus it just wrecks my energy levels completely. I think sleep is the most important thing we should make sure we get enough of.

    So true about the dullness.

Sleep is my stress-reliever. Whenever something bad happens or I have a bad day I go and have a sleep and wake up feeling much more capable of coping or coming up with a solution.

Unfortunately I have never been able to fall asleep early. From midnight onwards I can fall asleep no problems, but like most people I need to be up before 7am. I also tend to do that thing where you go “ok one more chapter” and end up reading half the book.

I invested in a latex pillow this year and the quality of my sleep has improved out of sight and I rarely get puffy eye/dark circles now even if I’ve only had 6 hours. Highly recommend. I also moved into a place with blackout shutters lol.
