Teenage Boy

Hi, I would like to help my little brother with his skin. Hes just started year 8 and is getting lots of little red pimples. I want to teach him its ok for guys to take care of their skin. He doesn’t have serious acne, just little pimples from oily skin. I don’t want him to use anything to harsh. Im a bit of an expensive beauty junkie, and always buy products with active ingredients and don’t really trust brands such as loreal, garnier, neutrogena. What would you suggest?

I appreciate your problem – I have a nephew who also suffers (and a daughter in Yr8 that has occasionals too).

Personally, I’ve also had a breakout after summer (I think I’ll blame it on slathering on so many sunscreens everyday!) and I was sent some Mirenesse Power Clear Gel Cleanser and this is even better than the Clinique Anti-Blemish I’ve used previously. It’s so comfortable on my skin – not harsh at all and it’s cleared my skin right up! I’m quite surprised actually.

Along with that cleanser I’ve found the Innoxa Skin Clear AntishineBlemish Control Lotion SPF15 perfect for day – very light and yet effective. At night I’ve used the Mirenesse Power Clear Treatment Gel (which is actually like a light white lotion) which is soothing and surprisingly effective too.

All these products I’m mentioning because they aren’t girly at all – they are green coloured containers that could be used by male or female. Besides that, they work!! and my skin is looking lovely and clear now which I am very surprised about!

A cheaper product I love is the Neutrogena Stress Scrub which is a bit harsher in the way it feels on my skin but also feels great when I want to have a good scrub! It contains Salicyic Acid and is effective but nowhere near as gentle (and effective) I’ve found of late as the Mirenesse Power Clear Products I’ve mentioned. They’ve been exceptionally great for my skin.

For a treatment for putting right on the ‘spot’ – the one I love is the Neutrogena Rapid Clear 2-in-1 Fight & Fade Gel. I’m finding it awesome because it takes out a lot of the redness from the spot and goes on clear so I can wear it in the day without people knowing I’m wearing anything at all! It’s also a unisex packaging (orange coloured).

I’d highly recommend these products!! Hope it helps!

It’s a shame that guys are made to made to feel silly for taking care of their skin – especially if they have acne!

Maybe just start him on Clearasil, that does seem to work for teens, it did for me as well. And I doubt he’d be willing lol but try and get him onto Trilogy Rosehip Oil…it not only makes skin clear but it balances out oily skin as well:)

Hope he finds something that works!

I think rosehip oil is also good for scars…? 🙂 if i’m wrong (oops). but if he picks his pimples (which many of us are guilty of) then maybe this could heal scars? Anyways, rosehip oil is damn good according to everyone here. I still haven’t used up my bio oil so when it’s all gone…ROSEHIP OIL, HERE I COME :DD.By the way, Bio oil works great too. especially for my acne scars/

The trial team recently reviewed the new version of proactive.

I would recommend the Alpha-h teen range, neutral packaging too.

I don’t know about ProActiv. I tried this about 4 years ago. It worked ok until I realised it has bleached my face towel! I haven’t used it since. If it bleaches my towel, goodness knows what it would be doing to my face!
I wouldn’t trust those celebs advertising it on tv. They’re faces are probably air-brushed to look perfect.
Then again, everyone’s skin is different, so it could be worth a try 🙂
