Staying Awake without Coffee!!

I was wondering if you beauties have any ideas or tips on how to stay awake throughout the day without coffee or caffeine.
I’m addicted to coffee and when I drink too much my skin isn’t feeling it’s best or my flashy smile isn’t so bright lol.
In the end it seems coffee is the only way to sustain me throughout the day!
My diet is pretty healthy, I get enough sleep it’s just that if I ever skip the coffee then someone should carry me to bed rightaway!!!

Thank you lovelies!!

Sounds strange but when I stay up late cramming for exams I drink loads of water. Its hydrating, much better for you than sugary stuff and for me it seemed to help. Maybe having to pee every half an hour explains it 😛

Lol! I agree with that one 🙂

Tashii, I am like you I have never gotten a kick out of energy drinks/coffee, that is why I don’t bother drinking them and the energy drinks are also full of sugar so therefore since it is not making me more active is just adding to my waist line 🙁

for me if you drink water at least 1 litre a day in conjunction with coke zero (with a straw), it will help you feel you stay up a bit. This has been my thing for exams…

Start your day with exercise and by eating healthy but sugar-packed food, like fruit or muesli.

Eat a small mini-meal right around morning tea time.

Eat a small mini-lunch at lunch time.

Eat a small snack at afternoon tea time… from this point, minimize your sugar intake for the rest of the day.

    Eat a small dinner.

Drink lots of water throughout the day. Take frequent breaks; if you work at a desk, get up and have a walk every so often, even if it’s just to the bathroom or to the break room.

By maintaining your metabolism through the day, you ensure that your body is always busy building energy. Starting the day with good sugars (like in fruit) is a good way to jumpstart your metabolism and gives you an energy shot right around morning tea time. Decrease your sugar and carb intake as the day goes on to slowly prime your system for sleep.

Then maintain a healthy sleep cycle! Sleep early, rise early, etc. You should find yourself left with heaps more energy, all without caffeine.

Definitely don’t get on the energy drinks … I started working longer hours at work and found myself drinking a 500ml can of V every day just to keep me awake and level me out (it didn’t even pep me up anymore) and when I stopped drinking them I had the worst withdrawal migraines. But a few weeks on with just heaps of water and a cup of tea each day I’m feeling lots better.
I still look at the cans sometimes when I’m tired but I know they won’t be good for me in the long run.

Also I find going to bed earlier and getting up earlier the next day helps to get you going – and at the end of your shower turn the water down to cold just before you get out to get an instant rush!

And there’s a few essential oils you could try that will lift your spirits.

Hope these ideas help you 🙂

There are hay fever tablets that keep me awake because V drinks, coffee and the rest dont work on me. like i would drink them and go to sleep. so check out hay fever tablets you dont even need a doctor to prescribe them all u need to do is buy them over the counter hope that helps 🙂

I honestly think it’s one of those things that your body doesn’t need but does after awhile of having too much of it. Try not to start relying on energy drinks etc because there is no way that stuff is good for your body :S Just start weining yourself from the caffeine slowly and I think you’ll be okay – I’m sure it will take awhile but the benefits will make it worthwhile

Totally agree with you Nda. I’m addicted to caffeine and I don’t just mean that I need my morning cuppa – If I don’t have a cup of tea for 2+ days I get the worst headaches of my life that no amount of Nurofen can treat. I drink nowhere near as much as I used to (5 to 6 cups of tea probably 2 years ago) and instead I try and get a decent amount of sleep (7 is my magic number). Now I only have maybe one cup a day to relax, but if I forget that then the headaches start and strangely enough I get insomnia. Caffeine withdrawals suck so definitely try and cut down without completely eliminating caffeine.

Definitely stay away from energy drinks though, they’re loaded with sugar, carbs and insane amounts of caffeine. To me I look at them and see liquid poison.

I definitely think natural alternatives are the way to go. When I was in high school, I had a teacher who was always drinking coffee and when she didn’t have it, she looked like absolute death – I saw her and thought ‘There’s no way I’m ending up like that!’ lol! I didn’t want to rely on one thing so much to make me feel better so I never drink coffee.

I drink lots of water and try to get as much sleep as possible – this paired with a multi-vitamin every day is normally sufficient. Apples do a great job at giving you energy and keeping you up (I often have a few when I’m up late studying) so maybe give those a go.

Good luck and I hope you find something that works for you!xo
