Spiders and their webs on my washing line!

Okay don’t get me wrong, I love summer but this has got to be my absolute least favourite thing about it – I can’t put clothes on the washing line without taking them down to find webs on them!

And there are spiders on the clothes too – I actually found a small spider on my knickers the other day…imagine I had worn them shudder

Does anyone else have this problem? What can I do to get rid of it?

Well. I don’t really mind them. As far as i know, i can name a few of the spiders….every tom, jerry and dick.
I leave my clothes to dry overnight because…..well, they didn’t dry in the daytime.
I prevent spiders from getting into the clothes by shaking every single piece of clothe like a mad woman when collecting them. (It’s ok, my house is secluded so no one sees this xD)
Never actually had any problems with spiders in my clothes, they like staying on the lines rather then my clothes LOL.

I have the same problem Nda. I use a dustbrush and brush webs away regulary but they still come back and I always find little spiders hanging from the line, pegs etc. I’m a vego too and prefer not to kill them so I just keep brushing the webs away and don’t leave clothes overnight, I still get the random spiders but they are bearable, I just shake laundry before folding or placing into the basket and bringing it inside. The idea of a spray is great and works if you don’t mind killing them, it also keeps away other pests (like softness idea) Good Luck! oh, and I don’t leave pegs on the line or outside. I keep them in my laundry basket for when I need them it helps a little.

Ahh good idea softness!! I’ve never even considered that. That doesn’t kill the insects and spiders though does it? I’m vegetarian lol 🙂

And pink shoes, I must admit, I have been knows to just leave the clothes on the line over night. But even if I don’t, they get onto the line at night and just latch onto my clothes the next day when I put them out 🙁

Lol! I totally relate! I have to get one of those Mortein self-sprayers from Big W/Bunnings and go around the house and fence (and clothesline) every three months to keep those spiders and their messy webs at bay! We live right near the bush so if I don’t keep this up they really take over! (I don’t like having to get one of those ‘pest guys’ come around so I do it myself).

Don’t leave your clothes on the line overnight. Spiders tend to come out at night. 🙂

Hmm well unfortuntely I live with my parents and sister so there are far too many clothes to dry inside:( I might start doing it with just mine though lol.

I heard about spraying vinegar on the washing line but I’m worried the clothes will smell of vinegar lol.

I remember when I first moved to Australia we were renting a place that didn’t have a clothes dryer which shocked me cause I use the clothes dryer for my linen and undies and hang the rest on a clothing rack indoors. Anyways, I hung my clothes on the washing line and when I went to get it that evening there was bird poop and bugs all over them DISGUSTING!!!

I solved that problem by never putting anything outside to dry and moving to a place where there was a dryer LOL. I now have a huge clothing rack that I put next to a sunny window (indoors) and let them dry that way….linen and undies go in the dryer.
